November 9, 201114 yr Yet most people 6 months ago seemed to think Stern was the best commish in sports. Even though he is now in his second lockout in 12 years that will cost the league games. A lot can change in 6 months. Shoot, a week ago Joe Paterno was one of the most respected coaches in the nation. Today........
November 9, 201114 yr Why Stern in particular? Because he isn't doing enough to end the lockout. The players have made concessions every step of the way for the owners/Stern and all they ask for is 52.5% of revenue. Down from the 57% they were previously getting. Stern says the players need to take 50% by Wednesday or the deal goes down to 47%? He knows the players aren't going to go below 50% and why the ultimatum. It strikes me that Stern and company are taking an 'our way or no season approach'. Each percentage point represents 80-100 million dollars. The players have sacrificed approximately 500 million dollars to get down to 52.5% and that isn't enough for the owners? Whatever. I bet Stern isn't taking a one dollar salary like Goodell did either. Chump.
November 9, 201114 yr My dad pulled Sam Lacey and Norm Van Lier over on 75 for speeding on their way to a game. Sam was cool. Norm ran his mouth too much.:lol: Van Lier always ran his pie hole, on and off the court.
November 9, 201114 yr Stern wants them to take 51% not 50%. If they don't take 51% by today it goes down to 47%. My fault.
November 9, 201114 yr Yeah, I know. I must admit though, I did peek at a game or two during Bird-Magic-Kareem-McHale days. By the way, I liked the ABA way better than the NBA. Loved watching the Colonels in Louisville. A good family friend played in the ABA. Tells some great stories.
November 9, 201114 yr A good family friend played in the ABA. Tells some great stories. I remember when Artis Gilmore joined Kentucky Colonels. He was the biggest human I had ever seen at the time. I loved the ABA.
November 9, 201114 yr I remember when Artis Gilmore joined Kentucky Colonels. He was the biggest human I had ever seen at the time. I loved the ABA. The gentleman I'm speaking of is only about 5'10", but was good enough to named to the ABA All-Rookie team in 1971, averaging 15+ ppg; and was an alternate on the '68 Olympic squad.

November 9, 201114 yr ^ North Texas State also. Don't get him started on how much his neighbor Mean Joe Greene used to eat. Next time I see him I'm going to ask him about his 5 career blocked shots. Maybe he got Gilmore once or twice.
November 9, 201114 yr I haven't missed it one bit, however I would like to be able to watch some of our young former Wildcats, cheer for them and see how they do. I'm with you MJ the NBA lost alot of it's appeal for me when the NBA lost Jordan.
November 9, 201114 yr As big as a b-ball fan that I am I will say that I haven't missed it at all. As long as I have high school and college I'm good. yep... I wouldn't be watching it if the lockout were over... no fundamentals!

They give him the marching orders on what they want and his job is to execute those wishes as best he can.
November 10, 201114 yr yep... I wouldn't be watching it if the lockout were over... no fundamentals! The quality of basketball in the NBA is 10 times what it is in college. That's laughable.
