I hadn't seen that description from what the GA said. But even still if Joe Pa reported it I'm not sure what else he was suppose to do. He's not an eye witness and he followed the guidelines of how to handle such reports. Was he suppose to play police officer and go arrest the guy himself? I'm just not sure what else Joe Pa could do, I'd imagine like most of us would do if we reported something to the proper people, if we didn't hear about it again, we would assume it was investigated and the allegations were found to be false/baseless.

 

How about go to the cops? It's been years since he was told about it and Sandusky was still around the program with children as well. Obviously the higher ups did nothing but sweep this under the rug. If he had any moral fibers at all he would have went straight to the cops when nothing was done about this.

How old were the kids? And how did they let this happen to them? Did he force them into the showers? Did he walk in when they were showering? Are there even any details out? I'm trying to get an understanding of what's going on with this case, but it's all very vague.

He runs a home for troubled kids so he has access to plenty of kids that might be susceptible to this. We see that all of the time. We've heard about it in the last few years a lot with youth hockey in Canada.

How Joe P did not at least get his buddy to resign after finding out what happened is unbelievable.

 

He has to go. When he heard what the GA said he saw and is only response is to just follow policy makes me think that it was not new news to him. I bet we will find out that he had knowledge of this prior to the GA alerting him. But he was more interested in Penn St football than the kids being abused repeatedly. I hope he goes to jail.

An article I read talked about him promising a kid he can walk on at Penn State. One kid even spent the night at his house I believe.

Would you go to the police if you properly reported an incident and then after an investigation were told that nothing was wrong? Would you still feel the need to run to the police?

As soon as he let the guy back on campus with a child he was culpable.

Since when does telling your boss count as properly reporting a potential child molester? You may be right about them telling him it was taken care of, I doubt it though.

Yes.

The whole administration should go along with JoePa. Yes, JoePa reported it and then he washed his hands of it leaving it up to the administration. They are all guilty of covering up the whole situation and still allowing Sandusky access to the football team and the facilities as recent as least week. That's just disgusting and disgraceful. How many innocent kids were harmed while JoePa, arguably one of the top 5 most powerful men in Pennsylavania, made sure his defense stayed intact? I can't relieve JoePa of any responsibility just because he reported it. He could have and should have done more. How many kids were harmed on campus after JoePa 'reported it'?

The other officials that were arrested were arrested for not properly reporting it. They are the ones that should have went to the police once Joe Pa called it up. That was the protocol based on what I've seen and read and that's why they are in jail and Joe Pa isn't.

 

Again I will say I'm horrified by what happened and I feel the up most sympathy for the victims. But, all too often we as a society just want to hang everyone we can to feel better about what happened, whether they deserve to hang or not.

If you were in the situation of Joe, obviously the right thing to do is to report it to the police. From what I understand, it sounds like it would have been an extremely difficult thing to do. First of all, getting in the middle of the entire situation is a tough thing to man up and do. 2nd, ruining the lust of Penn State football for quite some time, maybe forever. And 3rd, putting a good friend and assistant coach in jail...I can see why he wouldn't want to go to the police, but this is too serious of a situation to not do more than what he did.

Why? Would you run to the police after a full investigation if the accusations were found to be meritless? I find it hard to believe that most would, most would probably accept what those they trust told them about an investigation.

Just because he didn't break a law it doesn't mean he did the right thing. He should have told the police period, especially after he knew they did nothing about it. I don't buy are a second he told them and went on his marry way like nothing happened. He knew darn well what was going on.

Also, why didn't the grad student go to the police? Why is it ok to blame Joe Pa and then give the GA a pass for just telling Joe Pa what he saw. He is the actual eye witness.

 

Who is giving him a pass? I haven't heard anyone give him a pass. Not one person. Mike Golic apparently sounded like he would whip the GA when he sees him.

I also would like to know why the other coach that initially "saw" Sandusky molesting the kid was looking in the showers in the first place..
