It's ALL our responsibilities. You should be outraged at your fellow fans' behavior. You place all the blame on Palmer, and stand back shrugging at what people put his family through. That makes you as complicit as they.

I find it hard to believe you take such a position with that and simply brush this off as reporting it to HR and not worrying about it again. Wouldn't it be your responsibly (Joe Pa) to follow up and make sure something was done about this? Well, I stand by both. If JoePa did report, and he was told that there was nothing to move forward on, what can he do? He can't fire a guy for suspicion. He didn't witness anything. How can he demand something be done if he didn't even have firsthand knowledge? If he never saw, before or after, anything untoward, what would he fire the guy for? As for the investigation, I don't know what happened there, and that's another aspect I'm interested to hear more about.

 

There should be outrage. But the outrage should be (IMO) directed at the GA who did nothing at the time that the incident was taking place first and foremost. Then, if the investigation proves to have been thorough in its process and there was evidence and proof that Sandusky was guilty, the school officials should be torched. But I'm defending JoePa in that I believe he did what he was supposed to do. He didn't see something happening. He was told later by a GA.

The GA is a former player at PSU and is now the current WR coach. I guess he got a "hush" job.

Say your neighbor comes to you and says the guy accross the street is having sex with boys. Do you go to the police? You've never seen anything out of the ordinary. Just a guy coming and going. No unusal activities at all.

^Absolutely. Without hesitation. I'd call the police and tell them who told me, tell them that I've never seen anything out of the ordinary, but I sure as hell wouldn't sit on that information.

Exactly....RM, say something does come out of it, and the parents of the children abused find out you knew and sat on it. You'd be able to live with that guilt? You'd be able to face those parents?

I"m sorry but HR personnel and your superiors are not qualified to perform a criminal investigation. Again, we are talking about some cheating on their time card or napping in the stock room. We are talking about childern being raped.

I hadn't seen that description from what the GA said. But even still if Joe Pa reported it I'm not sure what else he was suppose to do. He's not an eye witness and he followed the guidelines of how to handle such reports. Was he suppose to play police officer and go arrest the guy himself? I'm just not sure what else Joe Pa could do, I'd imagine like most of us would do if we reported something to the proper people, if we didn't hear about it again, we would assume it was investigated and the allegations were found to be false/baseless.

 

Sometimes it is not enough to follow the letter of the law. This same coach had been investigated only four years before. I have to believe that JoePa didn't wan to get his hands dirty and did the bare minimum. That's not enough to get fired, but it is enough for the moral outrage and backlash that he is receiving. In my opinion, he had a moral obligation and duty as the deity of Happy Valley, to find out what happened or at least instigate the investigation if the higher ups were to chicken poop to do it themselves.

Boy under 10, in a shower with a man, you see it and run to your daddy. I was 10 once, I could not imagine what went thru hs mind when this monster was preying on him and another person appears. Maybe joyfully someone will stop this bad man, but nope he gets to keep going with other boys as the AD tells Joe "I'll take care of it"?

 

The GA is the red headed coach you see on the side lines and he also commited a crime by not reporting to the police, a Rape against a child. He will never coach again after this season.

 

Joe is the overseer of the program, its on his watch. but Joe wanted records and no one to sway the boat. Sandusky was allowed even last week to be around the campus, I'm sure Joe had thought this had all gone away. Joe sould not get to coach this week or any other one. Penn State is a great school. And is doing what they can to remain that way.

 

When you think of Woody Hayes what comes to mind? Joe, when Sandusky was kept around should have known he had a problem and get rid of him, nope. so Joe when you think of him in the future...

Let's keep in mind who Sadusky is or was at the time. Coordinator on Paternos staff, and reportedly, pretty close friend of Paterno. Do you really think that Paterno recieves information on this and then casually reports it to HR? Then doesn't even think about it after that point? No way.
