Beechwood Injuries

The Beechwood football team has several key players battling injuries heading into Friday's non-district regular-season finale with Newport Central Catholic, including senior quarterback Taylor Davis, who will miss the next two games.

According to Beechwood head coach Noel Rash, Davis suffered a hairline fracture of his collarbone and won't be available until the second round of the playoffs.

Is fracture throwing side or non throwing side? From experience with this type injury, if it's his throwing side he will struggle with it well beyond a couple of weeks. If memory serves me right, the Beechies also lost a lineman or 2 early on but I think they had enough depth upfront to not feel the effects of that

NCC is pretty banged up as well. The loss of Thacker on both sides of the ball was hugh, and now they are down to their third team center. At least two other linemen are nursing injuries, but still playing. Collopy, and Hayes are both playing hurt, as is Hightchew, playing with a bad ankle, and a busted up throwing elbow. It's going to be a tough weekend for the Breds, trying to catch Volke, and Nussbalm!

Where can we find specific details of all Mayfield injured players? Their names, year, jersey number and specific locations of each injury. Photos and x-rays of all injuries, maybe even a link to the complete medical file.

Then again, maybe we should be looking for LHC information instead.

I think the Mayfield people have been pretty forthcoming with their injury news. Two starters are out for the year and two others have missed significant time.

WESTSIDER :sssh: That is susposed to be on the hush hush

My only other request is that the medical files be sent down to Mayfield before the game. Just kidding guys, the acting like it is some sort of secret is what has made this interesting. I think most all here want Davis healthy so there is no hollow wins for either side

Injuries are part of the game. If you can find a team that hasn't lost players, that is one lucky team. And no doubt every team has players nursing injuries of one sort or another. As I posted in the game thread, Beechwood has played the majority of their games this year missing 3 or more starters so they can deal with it.

I have some random thoughts and information:

Hopefully Davis will be 100% soon.

I understand part of the confusion about the injury had to do with different professionals having different opinions of the injury. Either way, I am confident what Coach Rash said in the paper about the injury is correct.

I understand Davis is going to have another CT Scan in about ten days and then a final determination will be made on his high school playing future.

Although any injury, especially to a senior is horrible, there is some talk among some people that the injury won't hurt the Tigers at all. The logic is it puts the ball in the hands of a playmaker (gifted runner) on every play.

Again, hopefully Davis has a full and quick recovery.

Their starting center is their 2nd string/ back up center....he has been centering since Thacker got hurt, with exception of a couple of games......who are the 2 lineman that are supposed to be hurt?

Can Vocke throw the football? That would be my QB. Many, many options with him running the offense and you can guarantee that your best playmaker will touch it on every play.

Max Nussbaum can throw the ball and he's faster than Vocke. He's also a "Playmaker" Should be very interesting to see. I believe the Tigers will recover better than most teams would from these kind of injury losses. Of course, we'll see. Like others have said. No Excuses.

Well put but again I hope Davis makes a quick and full recovery.

NCC moved Groh to ctr at the end of the McNic game after Thacker got injured, and Brooks & the QB couldn't get their snaps down. Groh got hurt in the Holmes game I think, and Brooks came in and has been doing a fine job. Nick Groh is still nursing his ankle, Evan Morse is still not 100% since his knee injury from last years Beechwood game. #79 Lenz was injured in last weeks Holy Cross game. There was an end out at the Lloyd game Anost that I'm not sure about.
