Injured right wrist early in the game. He seemed to be in a lot of pain.

I didn't know he was the long snapper. He did seem to be in a lot of pain. I was watching the trainer wrap his wrist and every time around he would wince. Hope he recovers quickly, they need him.

The clock was your friend in that situation. After the 19 seconds that ran off on that series it was your enemy..Run the ball!!!!

In case you hadn't noticed, we'd been having some difficulties with the punting game due to the starting long snapper getting injured. My guess is that Dale thought the greatest priority was trying to get the ball out from deep in our territory; that Dale believed pass plays at that point provided the best changes of getting a first down; and that getting a first was a higher priority than being concerned with the clock stopping if a pass was incomplete. There was too much time left on the clock at that point in the time to be worried about not stopping the clock. Execute the plays and don't worry about the clock not stopping.

Without checking the rushing stats , I would think Austin Collinsworth had over 1,000 yards rushing in 2009 .

Which actually shows why they could probably spare True or Harris and put them on the defensive side of the ball possibly. Just a thought but they have 10 really good offensive players and only 5 spots to put them. Im sure a few of those kids could help the defense.

 

With that said, the Defense looked really good last night in spots and the most important spots. Glad to see Rouse back also.

On about the third or fourth to last offensive series for the Birds (before the safety) Highlands threw the ball three straight plays. Anyone know why?

I think Matt Gramstad got 1,000 but I do not know the numbers.

I did a little research and saw Josh Conner got close to 1,200 yards in 2007. I guess the point I am making is every year there are 8-10 players going over 1,000 yards rushing in N. Ky. If Highlands were a team that focused even a little more on rushing the ball, they would have 1 or 2 running backs going over 1,000 yards every year. They have that level of talent in the program. Yet here we are trying to think about running backs in the past 10 years who went over 1,000 yards. Which brings us back to the question at hand ... why throw the ball instead of running it with over 5:00 minutes to go in a close game? Because that is who Highlands is and that is what they are best at - throwing the ball. So if you need first downs, you throw the ball.
