I would also venture to say there probably aren't many teams with as many 3-500 yard rushers. From what I have seen, they tend to spread the carries around a lot. And many of their games the starters are out at halftime.

If Dale runs the ball 3 times and then punts, the same folks are on here complaining about being too conservative (just like Cowboys v. Patriots last weekend) at that point of the game with that much time left on the clock. Classic definition of a "No win situation."

 

Which is why, at nut cutting time, you go with what you do best and don't look back regardless of the outcome.

If Dale is worried about fan reaction with him running the ball instead of throwing it, two things; for one I'd be absolutely stunned and two, I'd say there are problems in Ft. Thomas. I'd say he wanted a first down and was not going to get it running the football.

Just to be clear, when I said "No win situation" above, I meant "No win situation with the 'coaches' in the stands, on BGP and at the pancake house."

The bottom line is Highlands could have done either - run or pass. Because they've featured the pass more this year, as opposed to the run, doesn't mean they can't run, they've just chosen to pass more often because they've got one of the best HS QB's in the nation and a receiver corp which features one of the functionally fastest high school receivers I've ever seen. Highlands running out the clock at the end of the game by keeping the ball on the ground & getting one or two first downs proves my point.

 

If Highlands chose to feature the run, I guarantee you they'd have at least two RB's close to or over 1000 yards each, or a QB & an RB. How could you possibly stack enough guys in the box to consistently stop their run with the constant threat of Towles & Sheehan going right over the top of you?
