Dixie Heights 35 Simon Kenton 14

Don't have any stats, but heard Pike had a big second half, including a QB draw for a first down on a third and 21 during Dixie's last scoring drive.

SK didnt come back out for the 2nd half. Seems that Dixie made good 2nd half adjustments and shut SK down.

How bad is SK's offense to only score 14 on the much maligned and much scored upon Dixie "D"??

SK played well in the first half but it was all DH in the 2nd. Dixie was successful on three 4th down conversions during their first TD drive, then scored on 4th down with :26 left in the half. SK's offense was better than it had been the past few weeks but they didn't move the ball in the second half.

You do realize they hadn't scored on offense in the past 10 quarters prior to this game. 14 points in two quarters is actually explosive.

I figured this one would be much closer.

I knew they were bad, but everyone seems to scores in bunches vs. the underachieving Colonels??

Good to see my guy J Pitzer back in the endzone.

IMO, Pike played his best half of football since last year. Somebody said something to him right after the half that got him going. He ran much, much harder than he has all year long. He ran like he wanted to punish someone like he did last year. His throws, for the most part, were on the money too.

#78 for Dixie had another solid game on both sides of the line. I've made comments about the kid earlier this year playing solid at left tackle, but he got more time on the defensive line tonight, and he looked very good. He was constantly in the backfield.

Tonight I noticed the coaching staff mixed things up. Spritzky ran the offense while Brossart ran the defense.

Like I said in the pre game threads, SK just doesn't have any offense and when your offense can't move the ball it puts the defense in a tough position.

Which 6A team will SK beat????

I agree with your assessment of the game. The 2nd half there was a fire and passion that I haven't seen all year long. That's all you can really ask of any of the kids and the coaching staff. Play hard - give it your all - have fun - ya know? As a fan I think that's all anyone can ask of 16-18 yr old kids. I knew Brossart was calling the defense but I didn't realize Spritzky was calling the O. I thought Brossart was doing both! Anyhow nice to see different defensive looks as well as blitz packages! Nice win - hopefully they can build on it for next week!

Saw in the paper that Pike had 32 carries for 150+ yards rushing and > 30 passes, accounting for 60+ touches. Those are amazing numbers. That has to be a record for a high school player. Was Justice still out?

Justice is done for the year and Bruns is still out. They put Moloney and 36 in the backfield last night as lead blockers for Pike as he is the only running threat. I thought 32 ran well between the tackles against Highlands earlier in the year, but I don't think he's seen any varsity action since. Not sure why.
