Dixie Heights Defense?

Featured Replies

I disagree. Were you at the game? curious - because what I saw was a lifeless - none emotional coaching staff. Speaking defensively only there were really NO major adjustments made defensively until towards the end. Hell with sitting back and let someone pound it down your throat - running the same 2 - 3 plays over and over again. Try something ya know? Blitz your linebackers, move a safety down in the box, start playing the gaps, bring more than they can block! Or if the players in there are not giving a 100% then put someone in the game who will. But don't sit there and make zero adjustments, not get the kids fired up and coached up, and last but not least how about calling a time-out to break another teams momentum once in a while. IMO it's combined effort from both the coaching staff and players - as with anything though - it ALL starts at the TOP! You can have all the talent in the world but if the coaches don't keep them motivated you are not going to win many games. Especially the close ones where the talent maybe equal.
Yes i was at the game and have attended many of their practices. These kids will simply not get fired up and have no heart. To me, it seems like a bunch of pre-madonnas who think they are better than they actually here. As a coaching staff you have to go from getting your kids prepared to trying to become a psychologist to figure out why there is not heart or no effort. One thing i do agree with you on is they need to institute the "don't try, don't play" rule. And everyone wants to sit here and say how great highlands coaching staff is. Come on guys, these kids are born and bred to play football at about the age of 5. When you have enough talent and as much tradition as they do, the kids have no room to fail or they WILL lose their spot. That makes it a whole lot easier than kids at other schools that have started since sophomore year and have the mentality like "What is he going to do? Not play me?" It might be better to go 5-5 with those kids than go 1-9 with the others, who knows. I also want to make it clear that I am not mocking Highlands coaching staff. They are the best of the best in NKY year in and year out. All I'm doing is making a point.

I hope this defense continues to give up points this week and fix things next week! :D

I'm too lazy to look it up. Who is the Defensive Coach for Dixie? Seriously? Don't know.

I posted something very much like the bolded after the Highlands vs Dixie game . The Dixie players and coaches showed no emotions or showed any kind of spunk , what so ever. They did not have any reactions to bad plays , good plays or anything else. I can understand being that way after a good butt whipping but not before the game even starts, If you can't "get up " for a game with Highlands , what's the problem ? I have watched a ton of high school football , and I have never seen a team with less life than Dixie , this year.

I am not a Dixie hater , never have been one. As far as the coach or coaches at Dixie , I don't know enough about them to comment. So who is in charge of getting the players fired up, the coaches , players or someone else , I really don't know. This is solely my observation from the outside looking in.

I'm so tired of everyone bashing their coaching staff. In my years of watching high school football, you have to have the players to compete. I believe that coaching is about 20% of the game. So, if a team plays 10 games and they win 8 those 2 loses might be chaulked to coaching. I don't care if you put ludlows coaching staff on the 09' Highlands team they would still have won a state championship and probably would have lost to st.x. Coaches are the easiest to blame but the kids need to look at the man in the glass

No way coaching is 20% of the game. There are many examples that prove this too. When a team has talent year in and year out, it definitely makes a difference. However, I know of too many coaches that have coached with limited numbers and end up doing better than expected with what they had.

Where Q is from or who he supports has nothing to do with this thread and attacking him for it is surely a cheap shot.

I do think it is fair to ask what is going on with Dixie's defense. On offense I know they have had some injuries and Pike can be hit or miss but what is the deal with the D?

So you don't think asking does Dixie's defense exist? Or who coaches these bullfighters is a cheapshot? Really.

So asking if Highlands has conditioning for hoops? Or who coaches Highlands hoopsters-Jay Cutler? Those would be okay too then?

Oh cry me a river. It's called trying to make a point, get over it.

Other than 2004 when they were solid when had Dixie has a good defense? I don't remember any/many.

Boy I certainly ruffled some feathers here. That was not my intent and I guess since these are HS kids my wording could have been a little different. If you think Dixie fans are satisfied with their ability to give up 45 a game then i guess that's a bigger problem.

Who I root for or where I'm from has nothing to do with my comments regarding Dixies defense. I honestly am curious to know who coaches the defense. If it's someone's best buddy on here then I guess I get where you are coming from when you jump to their defense. I apologize if my post came across as a cheap shot.

Did I say it wasn't a cheapshot?

Q's choice of words was gray area but attacking him isn't the answer.

Thanks! Really had no idea.
