Louisville athletic officials say coach Charlie Strong will discuss the absence of offensive coordinator Mike Sanford after the Cardinals’ game against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

 

A Louisville team spokesman confirmed Saturday that Sanford was still with the program, though he did not attend practices for most of the week and did not travel with the team to Chapel Hill.

 

Quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson, the former offensive coordinator at Nebraska, will direct the Cardinals’ offense against the Tar Heels. The Cardinals have struggled to move the ball. They came into the game ranking 105th of 120 FBS teams in scoring offense.

 

Sanford came to Louisville in 2010 after serving as the UNLV head coach for five seasons.

Jones main point was they weren't even investigating it or if they did they were afraid to report what they found. I think that is accurate.

I wonder about the CJ failure to report. I have a hard time thinking they would be afraid of Jurich and company. If that is the case, keep an eye on CBSSports.com. One thing I know about Brett McMurphy, if he is sniffing this and there is a story UofL wants to hide, he'll ferret it out and not care who or what he it takes to get it, including his own job. That's how he's made his stones.

Discounting 100% the possibility that they did investigate and found not enough information to publish responsibly. Why is that not an option?

I know that there are only a small handful of people that really "know" if there was a physical altercation.....from what I hear: Hurtt, Bedford, Watson, Sanford, and Strong......Moorer maybe/maybe not. That said, there was a "headset" argument during the Marshall game, and of course that game ended poorly. The argument struck up again in the coaches' office, and then the big question mark. At this point, Charlie said there was no "physical altercation", and that's all we can go by. None of the players know, nor does anyone outside of the few that I mentioned above. Either way, Sanford was "relieved" of his OC duties, and given the option to stay on staff. Last I hear, he's interested in doing so. It'll be a tough task to get the kids to respect him again. I think Charlie will have his work cut out for that.
