I noticed in the 10th region preview that there are some districts who setup their tournaments with a draw. I could be wrong but I believe each district in the 12th region uses seedings. I know the 45th does for sure. How many districts use a draw to determine their district tournament pairings and why aren't they using seeding? Also does the region make this happen or is it a district decision?

Someone mentioned that in order to get the truest region tourney each district should use seeding to determine district tourney matchups and I couldn't agree more.

Not going to happen! Each school has a vote in the matter and the smaller schools are not going to vote for it. The only way this goes down is if the KHSAA rules for everyone to do it.

Don't the smaller schools have the All A? So why not seed? I do not understand how the draw is fair, really. It has been debated on here for ages though.

Not sure if you were referring to a recent statement I made, but I'm a firm believer in seeding for districts. I think that mostly because I place a great emphasis on regional tournaments, and I think seeding helps ensure you have a better quality regional tournament.

I know it's still not perfect, because sometimes you have districts that are much weaker than others within your region, but I think it's the best system. KHSAA should mandate it statewide.

I was thinking you said it but I am on my phone and it's a hassle to go back and look sometimes. I remember agreeing with you wholeheartedly when I read it. I couldn't believe every one didn't seed and was wondering how many districts don't seed and also wondering how many times the 2 best teams have played each other in round one of the district tourney. That's awful. KHSAA needs to mandate seeding.

I agree with RP... make seeding mandatory. You have to play every team in your district at least once. I know there are some schools that would prefer to not play their district opponents. I'm not sure what would work best in that situation.

No doubt. They sure do have the All A Tournanment. Time for the smaller schools to man up.

I agree too on mandatory seeding. We are in a district that seeds. We elect to play two of the teams only once a year. The other team is a big rival and we play them twice. The coaches pre-season tag which game will be the district seeded game. This is usually a double header of the boys and girls teams. Many think you have to play each team twice...you don't have to.

It's not always the smaller schools that oppose seeding. If my information is accurate, Mason County votes against seeding because they're in a district with three class A schools & they prefer playing against what normally will be stiffer competition. I mean no disrespect to Augusta, Bracken County & St. Patrick, but on a year-in-year-out basis, they're not able to compete well with the Royals.

While I understand where both the big & small schools come from, I think each respective region benefits by district seeding.

I know I saw somewhere (here on BGP) how many districts there are that do not seed. There aren't that many, if memory serves me right. I know half of the 10th region districts seed & half do not.

I heard that Bellevue was going to vote to seed the 36th District this year. I haven't seen this confirmed and I can't believe they would vote for it. Anyone heard anything?

First of all, any vote that takes palce is for the NEXT season, not the current season. And as for the rumor, it is a rumor.
