October 5, 201115 yr Author I would have to research his stance on the issues then decide. Since he isn't running in Kentucky I couldn't really care less what his stance is. On face value I would have a hard time voting for him. While we cannot vote for him he will have the same vote as those that we send from KY.
October 5, 201115 yr He was using it as an illistration to show hwo dumb it was for them to be playing at all, much less together. He could have said "it's like a cat and dog playing together". He was obviously trying to make as extreme an analogy as he good. We'll have to agree to disagree. You don't bring up Hitler and the leader of the Jewish state as a basis for comparison if cats and dogs will do. Like Getslow said, that's a conversation ender.
October 5, 201115 yr While we cannot vote for him he will have the same vote as those that we send from KY.You are correct but at the sametime so what. I don't mean that being a smart alec but if you, I, or any other Kentuckian can do absolutely nothing to elect or not elect him then why should we care what his stances are? Are you going to research every senate candidate in every state?
October 5, 201115 yr We'll have to agree to disagree. You don't bring up Hitler and the leader of the Jewish state as a basis for comparison if cats and dogs will do. Like Getslow said, that's a conversation ender. So if he would of said Ahmadinejad and Netanyahu would you or anyone else have the same issue?
October 5, 201115 yr So if he would of said Ahmadinejad and Netanyahu would you or anyone else have the same issue? It's certainly less explosive, but yes, it would be same issue. Comparing the leader of a democracy bonding with the head of its legislature to a hostile autocrat playing golf with the leader of a country he wants to murder along with the rest of its citizens is toxic, borderline imbecilic behavior.
October 5, 201115 yr If you think you would vote for Hank on what would you base your vote that would send him to Washington? Same reason I've often heard for electing Senators and United States Representatives. Get 'em out of your home state.
October 5, 201115 yr I can see what he was trying to say and would hope that he'll learn real quick that it makes a difference in what you say as a politician vs as an entertainer.
October 5, 201115 yr I thought ESPN dropped him from Monday Night Football over the Bama hat. It goes against their beloved Longhorn network.
October 5, 201115 yr Author You are correct but at the sametime so what. I don't mean that being a smart alec but if you, I, or any other Kentuckian can do absolutely nothing to elect or not elect him then why should we care what his stances are? Are you going to research every senate candidate in every state? Nope. However, his election does have an impact on me.
October 5, 201115 yr Same with Charles Manson...... Actually Hitler never personally killed one person
October 5, 201115 yr It's certainly less explosive, but yes, it would be same issue. Comparing the leader of a democracy bonding with the head of its legislature to a hostile autocrat playing golf with the leader of a country he wants to murder along with the rest of its citizens is toxic, borderline imbecilic behavior. This is Hank Jr we're talking about. Borderline imbecilic behavior seems about par for the course.
October 6, 201115 yr Author As expected, Hank Jr has been fired by ESPN. Let the gnashing of teeth over "Freedom of Speech" begin.
October 6, 201115 yr Author Let the gnashing of teeth over "Freedom of Speech" begin. That didn't take long. Hank says it was his decision and, yes, pulled out the tired old "freedom of speech" card. From his website: NEWS OCT 06 HANK JR. REACTS TO BEING PULLED FROM ESPN FROM THE OCT 3RD MONDAY NIGHT GAME OPENER. AFTER ESPN SUSPENDS HANK JR. FOR ONE-WEEK, HANK JR. DECIDES TO PULL HIS SONG FROM BEING USED ON ESPN FOR REMAINDER OF SEASON! “After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision. By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.” -- Hank Williams Jr One more shining example of one of our citizens not understanding the concept of "Freedom of Speech." Sad.
October 6, 201115 yr Freedom of speech is one of our most important rights. HOWEVER, as with all freedoms, excersing that right bears consequences, and if you choose to play the freedom of speech card, then you have to be prepared for the consequences. Hank, Jr. certainly has the right to express his opinion. ESPN, being a corporate citizen has the right to discipline him/their partnership as they see fit. It's as simple as that.
