Freedom of speech is one of our most important rights. HOWEVER, as with all freedoms, excersing that right bears consequences, and if you choose to play the freedom of speech card, then you have to be prepared for the consequences. Hank, Jr. certainly has the right to express his opinion. ESPN, being a corporate citizen has the right to discipline him/their partnership as they see fit. It's as simple as that.

Good point, with his connection to football he should know that's going to cost him a lot of votes right there.

I think that was the initial cause of the uproar. Once you read the quotes you realized that it was not a direct comparison. You can surmise or speculate that it was an indirect comparison. We'll never know.
