I think SK wants a rematch with Highlands. As they say its not how you start the season its how you finish it!

 

Now that is funny! SK wanting to play HHS is an accomplishment.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong (guru?), but Boone seems to be a one dimensional team on both sides of the ball. They power run on offense. They are good at stopping the run on defense. If you can stop Boone's running game, they are in trouble. If you can pass the ball, they are in trouble. So it is about matchups when Boone plays someone. From what is posted in this thread, SK seems to have a good passing game and that is big trouble for Boone. I would guess SK is big enough on defense to keep Boone from smash mouthing it at them and thus the shutout. It is all about the matchups.

Sweeperboy never shows. We invited him today on his Birthday and he blew us off. ABC is in Indy trying to learn how to sell something. Rarely we ever talk about Highlands football when we meet on Fridays!!....LOL. We normally only talk about the FTJFL. Good things that is. About how much fun teaching Kids and preparing them to be S.C.I.T's.

I find this score a little surprising. Boone has to have some issues right now with players(Injuries)?. Just doesn't make sense to me!

Did Boone's really good running back play. When he played HHS, it just looked effortless for him to run the ball. At times it almost looked like he was jogging while running the ball. Very good football player! What number was he again? 24 maybe.

I could talk about the injuries or the turnovers or the new offense or the poor pass defense or the willingness of some kids to stick it in there or a host of other things but they just feel like excuses. Just know they were a trainwreck last night. If the team that showed up in the second half against Highlands shows up they will win every game in my opinion, if not, they may lose every game. All I can tell you is that it is very frustrating as a parent.

Sounds like the really boone kids showed up last night. A few come to play all the time, some play when they feel the need, other just like being there watching

I wasn't there and I do agree with you that most things sound like excuses. But, in a brief conversation I had with Thad, he indicated there were a number of changes because of the injuries from the Beechwood game. It's tough to lose your QB but when that tumbles to moving your FB to QB, a lineman to FB, etc., then trying to revamp your offense to compensate for those changes, the results are typically not going to be very good.

 

And, from what I've seen over a lot of years, young guys often don't respond very well emotionally to tough times, particularrly after a string of success. At least not without a ton of leadership from somebody, be it a coach or a player or group of players. Please understand I'm not pointing fingers with this, just stating what I've seen.

 

I also agree that the BC team that showed up the second half against Highlands would be tough for anyone to handle. But with the injuries there is no way that team can show up. Boone will have to "start over" with the players they have. And hopefully some of the injuried will be back.

 

Tough way for the season to go for these young guys but perhaps it will make them tougher down the road. Missing your pictures, by the way!

Boone is not alone is this, unfortunitly coaches think they need to play players where they think they will play in 3~4 yrs from now and not what's best for the team currently.
