There is NKY "athleticism" and then there is true "athleticism."

 

Tell me where you see the D improving in the 10-game series against LaSalle who cannot pass nearly as well as Highlands. How much can tackling improve in a few weeks? Who guards Sheehan who is as fast as the LaSalle receivers? We had a DB turn his head and stop running with the receiver today on a fly pattern. Fortunately, the ball was overthrown or it was 6. PT is not missing that throw. It's not the first time the kid has used this "technique." I saw it against Campbell but it, too , was overthrown or it was 6.

 

This is a solid team by NKY standards in a year when NKY is down overall. Really good teams with good athletes (today was the first one we've faced) expose our lack of speed/tackling/technique. Dave Wirth is a good coach. He's not a magician.

 

We can agree to disagree on Highlands 06' vs this year. I totally disagree. Of course the Bluebird faithful will say this team is better because it is present tense. Outside of QB, I don't see where they are better. And Cecil was a machine running the ball that year.

 

I think LaSalle's passing was what we will expect from Highlands? I don't see it any better or any worse unless I missed something. You know tackling can improve week over week. I've seen teams that can't tackle anybody one week play their best game ever the following because of emotion and adrenaline. I'll admit I was a victim of that.

Well the thread "says" LaSalle 41, CC - 10....you're the one that alluded that it says something else........what's the deal. Why is there a major separation from T, X, and HHS and almost everyone else? WHY? It hasn't always been this way.

 

The score is what it is....LaSalle won. I'm saying if you read in between the lines CCH gave away many of those points, and CCH is better than the score shows that is all. LaSalle is a better team period.

 

As far as the 3 heavyweights separating themselves that is another conversation. I would like to see this year play itself out first.

Wish he would have...I was there with my 3 kids. Maybe I missed those because I was chasing them down.

BTW, Bluesport, if I'm Dave Wirth I'm selling my boys on exactly what you're saying in order to get their confidence going.

Boone is going to be a tough game IMO. Strong running with a very good (and underrated) QB. IMO CCH is going to have to put up 30 points or have Boone implode.

Was this really the score at half? What a joke. What is happening in KY? It's like there are 5 solid teams, and a bunch of also rans...

 

It's been that way for a while...just now the six classes exposes it greatly.

Unless you were there don't comment. The score is what it is......I bet if they played tomorrow it would be a even game. Look at the stats....CCH shot themselves in the foot, they had one of those mornings. It felt like a scrimmage game at 10 AM where once a few special teams plays botched everything, and the heat kicked in these 16 and 17 year olds couldn't put their best foot forward. Most of them were battling heat exhaustion or cramps by the 2nd quarter. Their 2006 Championship team was down like 35-3 at halftime against Bishop Watterson....it happens. It is a meaningless loss to a Ohio team that would've thumped anybody today who gave them so many gimmies.

 

Football is whole game not just off. and def. If it felt like a scrimmage get that problem fixed and get LIGHTS. I almost forgot that Lasalle did not play in the same heat they must wear some type of new super body cooling uniform so they do not get so hot and deal with the heat exhaustion. I wounder if the coach and players would consider it a meaningless game? You schedule teams to get better and hopefully CCHS will learn from this lose and not act like it doesn't matter if you lose to an Ohio team that is ridiculous statement.

Without the mistakes by CCH that led to 21-28 fairly easy points, this CCH team is able to play with LaSalle. They showed spurts of being able to run move the ball consistently against them, but would then shoot themselves in the foot. I think on D too many of the youngsters thought due to the size of LaSalle they had to come with the big hit everytime, and didn't wrap the ball carrier. This resulted in several hits at or just past he line of scrimmage, D player bouncing off and LaSalle ends up with 10-15 yd gain. The reality of it is LaSalle was a little bigger, much faster at all positions and used to playing very tough teams week in and week out. This still doesn't mean CCH won't do very well with their Ky schedule.

If I was 5 inches taller and had a little more zoom on my ball I'd be Payton Manning.

CCH played a quality team and got beat. I dont think its time to panic. We all know they will need almost a perfect storm for them to beat Highlands and anything can happen when they play. I just think people are quick to jump on CCH because this is the first quality team they have played and it turned out to be Ugly. I still think they are going to be pretty good. Cant measure there success on Lasalle and Highlands but they need a good showing against Boone or they may have a problem.
