Can anyone who has seen BG this year give us some info?

St. X has fallen behind Trinity but will still be hard for other KY schools to deal with. St. X wins by 10-14 points.

X is #2 in 6A not #5. Bg is #1 in 5A. Should be a great game since X has recently took a blow to the mouth which is a great learning experience for them. Bowling Green is a better football team than Riverdale though, so it should be an interesting game.

If I remember correctly X and BG used to play annually for 3-4 years with the games being very competitive. Then BG essentially substituted Trinity for X with the same result: very competitive games. BG and X obviously have been among the elite in Kentucky football for years and years.

I think the sting of defeat and the home field advantage will give the Tigers an edge as they win a close one on Poplar Level Road.

Unlike previous years, BG has a very effective passing game. They got a kid off the Basketball team to play who hasn't played since pee wee ball. He plays TE and is about 6' 3" and 200 plus and has played great. They also have a Sophomore wideout(Fant) who had double digit receptions against Henry Clay and is very tough. They return almost their entire defense and with a more diverse offense this should be a tough matchup for X. Still expect a narrow win for St. X.

The best games were in 1931 (13-12 lead for St X through three qtrs before they scored an insurance TD, and the two bowl games...absolute classics!). The Tigers lead the series 8-0.

 

Though we trail big in the series, I like this series because the games are very competitive and the fans respect each other. I've never met a Tiger fan I didn't like! I, for one, am glad to see that we're playing again. I predict another nail biter, one way or the other! Mrs PH and I will do our very best to make it up there and see if we can enjoy another great game!

I'm not so sure about that Avid Tiger... a loss to BG would be more of a concern than the loss to Riverdale (IMO).

I do think it will be a good game. Being at home gives X a solid edge though. I'll say X wins this 26-14.

Three of the games were very competitive. Also, I very much enjoyed talking with Trinity fans after last year's game...they were very gracious in victory. And I feel that I have great rapport with T fans such as you, Pep Rock, and some others here! (Trinity leads 5-0, and I was a soph on the first BGHS team to meet Trinity [1974]).
