Xgrad-JAGdad
Outstanding D-line play by the Tigers. Pressured all night. Medium-Good QB play. However when he scrambles his receivers have no clue what to do. Kicking game- 1/2 FGs and 0/1 XPs (Ouch). Coaching: Lining up in a pass formation then running the ball does not = a new wide open passing game. Play calling, especially when trailing 16-3 was not good. Game experience: Great. This loss helps the team a lot more than some 80-0 slaughter. Injuries to #55 on O-line early didn't help. Saw a second player on crutches too but not sure who. Overall assessment: St.X is better than last year but not as good (yet) as BGPers have been hyping.
UK fball fan
They looked very slow vs the very fast Riverdale team. They just couldn't stop the Warriors offense. There QB hit on his 1st 15 passes, as well. For a team that is supposedely a wing T running team, they sure could pass effectively when they needed too. They kept X's defense off balance all night. I thought the X offense looked good. The QB is very good and they have some sure handed receivers. Problem is, no breakaway speed after the catch, more possession type receivers and they were pretty much stuffed running the ball. I'd guess there QB scrambles were there best running plays all night. What beat them though was losing the battle on the line of scrimmage. Honestly, if not for 2-3 Riverdale turnovers, it could have been a little worse. X also had a couple of opportunities to make it closer, but, couldn't capitalize on the turnovers they did force. Overall, I think X will be fine. They're still most likely the 2nd best 6a team in Ky and when these guys get a few games under there belts, they'll be a load. AvidTiger
You're right were not as good as i may have thought. This game was a great learning step for X. Riverdale has about 17 3 year starters, has 3 returning starters on offense and 3 underclassmen starting. X is just young, with experience they will be ready for November. Defense held Riverdale to 23 points, 10 in the first half, defense forced the turnovers so it wasn't worst. Coach Glaser had a similar comment in the C-J: "It's going to be November before we're a really good football team." St. X hosts Bowling Green next week. That should be a good game. PepRock01
All joking aside from my end, I do think that X has effectively diversified their offense more so than any time except maybe 2004 or 2005. I think this experience against Riverdale will definitely toughen up the Tigers and make them a much harder opponent down the road.
RockPride
Keepin' it classy Mike: You have to schedule like this when you have the horses. From 2004 to 2009 I would have loved to have had this schedule.”
TonyDanza
When Riverdale came out I almost thought it was Florida State. #2 and #3 Odom brothers I think? Very talented players. I was impressed with the overall speed of Riverdale. St. X seemed to take a step forward then two steps back. Any word on St. X #55 injury? Trinity alum
In my opinion, X is much better this year than they were last year. This year's team can throw the ball to someone other than a DB. Also, there is a LOT more fight in this team compared to last years team. It looks like the coaches have decided to play a more aggressive and gambling defense. There were a couple of times when I thought Bobby Redman was the new DC at X. I think X is going to be a very ood team. Anyone that takes them lightly sttands a very good chance of going home with an L.
AvidTiger
X had plenty of chances to win the game. X was up 3-0 and the defense held strong and the offense didn't score, they threw a pick. 10-3(Rd) defense forced a fumble and X misses Fg attempt. Series later defense holds and offense doesn't score. That was the story all night long. X has work to do because they had too many penalties which prevented them from scoring. #55 is ok, and so is #13. All in all, X had plenty of chances to win. tcjkbt
How does X's O-line and Running Backs look this season? I heard they go 4 deep at RB and that the OL is smallish by X standards.
