Should Maxine Waters Receive A House Rebuke?

Featured Replies

I love Maxine Waters and other politicians like her because everytime I hear her speak or read material regarding anything she has said I am given assurance that my belief that this world in which we exist is doomed is actually backed up by evidence.

I guess you were down for a long nap the 8 years before that when Bush and 6 years of a Republican led congress took a surplus to a record deficit?

The CBO has said 1.3 trillion deficit is the 3rd largest ever. It came in third only to be beaten by the last two years. Enough of blaming Bush. Obama needs to take credit. If all of this worked, he wouldn't blame Bush, he would give credit to himself. The CBO report has also stated that unemployment will stay above 8%. I thought the stimulus was suppose to resolve that? http://www.npr.org/2011/08/24/139925678/cbo-releases-report-on-economy-federal-budget

anyways, Maxine Waters is also one of the people that said Fannie Mae and Freddie were doing just fine. People should take whatever she says with a grain of salt. Including this.

I very much agree on Obama, especially considering how he lambasted his predecessor on the campaign trail about deficits, spending, etc.

Since we are quoting the CBO then it looks like it did work, the stimulus proposed by Obama was designed to keep it under 8 but since he had to compromise and have a smaller stimulus amount then it didn't. However the stimulus worked. The deficit at the time was the biggest ever and most had no problem with it but now we are back on being deficit hawks. Very convenient and sticking with the OP's comments hypocritical.

The $825 billion economic stimulus law signed by President Obama in February 2009 is still having a positive impact on the economy some 30 months later, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Before entering the White House, Obama's economic advisers predicted a package they wanted to be even larger would hold unemployment below 8%, and it hasn't come close. Thirty months after the law was passed, it remains at

9.1%.

You can argue that we would be worse off without it, but I don't measure success like that. If you worked for a company and you issued a policy-say investing in a "sure thing"-that put the company if massive debt because you think it will boost sales by x% and it didn't even come close, do you think you would be out of a job? Or are you going to defend yourself by blaming everything on the previous person who held your position and saying "but...but we would of been worse off without it, I swear!"

If the company in reference didn't take my proposal and instead opted to invest only half of what I proposed and didn't get the return that was expected with t he original proposal should they be suprised? Is that a failure of the original proposal or a failure on the decision to only make a half hearted investment? Should I be out of a job or are they to blame? In terms of Obama he has no one to blame but himself because he was elected because he was trusted to be able to handle the economy better than McCain (which he has done IMO) but because his first negotiating position is one of compromise he is constantly folding his tent and moving toward the right. The stimulus package should have been much more robust and if he had any courage instead of taking a conservative position on the deficit he would be proposing a jobs program that including major infastructure upgrades and dare I suggest New Deal era job programs. Instead we get deadline deals that skew to the right like a Health Care reform bill that is more conservative than the one proposed by Republicans in the 90's. We would be worse off without the stimulus, no question.

I agree that she dished it out to Obama in the quotes you provided, but that was much more tame than telling him to go to hell.

(Or Ohio) :D

I don't deny that. Just wanted to point out that she dogs everybody, not just opposing parties. I think the intent of the original post was with the 'there the Democrats go again' tone to it.

What about this idiot ??http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/rep-andr%C3%A9-carson-tea-party-members-congress-want-142624474.html

I have never heard of this Carson and do not understand what the Black Causus has against the Tea Party. Do they believe that power will be taken from WDC and given back to the people? The members of the Tea Party lean more to the Republican Party, but they are also mad at many Republicans for the same reasons they are mad at the Democrats.

He also must not be aware that those who did the lynching in the South were Democrats.

The party of so-called civility is at it again. Hoffa refers to the Tea Party as "sons of _____!"

Biden refers to the Tea Party as "barbarians".

If this is civility, I hate to see what being uncivil is like.

Can you give us some context on this one?

It is the headline story on the Drudge Report at this time, 10:03 Sunday evening. He wants his marching orders to beat the snot out the dogs nipping at the Dems heels.

Can you give us some context on this one?
It was over the Tea Party being, in his opinion, against union workers. He said, "President Obama, this is you army, we are ready to march. Let's take these sons of _____ out and give America back to America where we belong!

Obama was present for this. Did he rebuke Hoffa? No. He just told how proud he was of him and of other union leaders.
