I know both teams are good, but, other than that, I don't really know much about their personnel. With the exception of Zeke Pike of Dixie Heights. I guess I was being conservative in my pick.

Warm day, Dixie will most likely have some kids going both ways, Dixie is notorious for starting the season not in tip top shape, I'll go with CovCath 35-14.

 

If Pike tries to carry Dixie all by himself, things will go down hill fast.

I remember when Dixie won at Trinity in a playoff game 6-7 years ago when they had a QB named O'Toole, I think it was. By no means do I mean to imply that Trinity is the end-all and be-all of football, but Dixie is no stranger to performing well in big football games, so, at the risk of being excommunicated, I have to with D.H.

It was 2004 and Greg Preston was the QB.

 

That team had a pretty solid defense and, to be fair, it wasn't the best T team. Using that as a barometer might not be wise.

That was probably Dixie's best defensive team in the past 10+ years. They had two solid ends in Hunter and Brockman. A solid LB in Mauer, and a couple brothers in the backfield that weren't too shabby.

 

I know it's only been one game, but this year's defense looks like it's going to give up a lot of points. They're small and slow. NCC was getting 3 to 5 yards before getting touched against that 3-3-5 defense. CovCath should have a field day tomorrow night. Dixie's offense is going to have to put up 35+ per game this year in hopes of winning any games.

Correct, Dixie can't do it all by himself, but he, Cohorn, and Bruns will produce and make the CCH defense work. This game is not going to be a walkover for CCH IMO. Cohorn and Bruns are in top shape. Many kids can't handle playing a whole game both ways, them two can. Cohorn was making many of the defensive plays asgainst NCC on the first two series including the fumble recovery near the goal line. Then they stayed away from that side of the defense pretty much the rest of the night. Don't get me wrong here, Bruns was at safety making many tackles. If your safety has to do that much work, you're defense is going to have a long night on the field. Dixie's defense, as a team has to play much, much better this week. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pike in on defense this week, Dixie has to start getting pressure on the QB and getting into the backfield.
