Not a chance. It'd be a pretty tough thing to explain to your players, fans, coaches, administrators why you had your star player on the bench for 1/4 of the game, especially in games of that magnitude.

I heard that Travis wanted to stick with the 1 quarter disciplinary action because he had apologized to his teammates and told them he would be sitting the first quarter of the Cooper game. Coach and Travis must have agreed to sit the first quarter even though he was reinstated as captain (he did go to midfield for the coin flip.) Travis is a pleasure to watch play and he plays the game with an intensity and politely hands the ball to the official every time he scores. He is a very team oriented player and fun loving young man. The incident is past history. I kinda like the idea of resting him on defense for the first quarter but I'd obviously like to see him on the field as much as possible.

 

I agree with a lot of what you say. I love watching the kid play. I love how he nails people who intend to tackle him. I love how he pops off the ground after being hit.

 

The problem is that Coach Warner has now put himself in a tough spot. If this is such a great idea to rest him will we see it any more this year(I doubt it)? If he suddenly does play all 4 (he will) then it's obvious it was a smokescreen. Just say the kid was disciplined.

That's the dumbest strategy I've ever heard. Give me a kid that can run on adrenaline and heart when the gas tank reads E.

Here are the facts as I know them. I respect the heck out of Travis Elliot and Bryson Warner. Another person who was the major culprit did not handle his part well. Travis manned up and he and Coach Warner talked before the game. Please contact Coach Warner for details. Go Raiders.

I think it is safe to assume that Coach Warner thought he was doing the right thing by keeping the matter private only that plan failed because it had "everyone" at the game was asking why Elliott wasn't starting and Richard Skinner of the Enquirer followed suit.

 

Clyde nailed it, just say the kid got disciplined, no big deal, end of story.

To think Ryle fans complained about the SK students shirts during the playoff game. If all this is true Ryle should very lucky nobody got hurt.

I just spoke at length with Coach Warner and in short he stated the "situation" between he and Travis Elliott was handled internally between the two of them.

 

This is strictly me talking now and not Coach Warner. I feel confident this was a minor disciplinary issue, it is over, end of story.
