they didn't line up against that stunt in practice. in the game was the 1st time they saw it. but irrelevant b/c X won by 7 scores

 

With 2 td's in the 1st quarter, 1 td in the 2nd quarter, 1 td in the 3rd quarter, and 1 td in the 4th quarter, how do you come up with "7 scores"? Are you sure you were watching closely what was really happening in the scrimmage? :confused:

simon Kenton blitzed practically every play and runs some gimmick "everybody stand up and fake blitz routine" sort of like an old musical...ala Southen Mississippi/Memphis and all those other "power" programs. Quite frankly, the X line did a great job once they figured it out. 35-Zip... does not take a rocket scientist to understand the final outcome I personally saw every down and feel the line, while slightly undersized at times, plays pretty nasty...

 

Good call on that Simon Kenton defense! The way they run that 3-5 is wild, and reminds me of something I used to see a lot from Mississippi State teams. I don't think it is very sound.

ST X does need some work their QB was sacked about 8 times in the scrimmage last week.

 

There is a barge full of salt that pulled in tonight - destined for a certain poster to go with his pronouncements.

My other new favorite word is "tool"....but understanding BGP rules I will watch out for calling someone a tool...I mean ugh..using the word tool! :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

St. X definitely has 3 or 4 running backs that could compete and play beside Dawkins though I will not say they are better than him as no one is able to make that determination if they don't play in the same backfield. St. X does have one of the most over looked QB'S in the area and maybe in the state. I find it funny that Kyle Bolin at Lex Cath gets all this pub when as a sophomore and a junior Alex Mattingly was clearly the much more talented QB while they were on the same field playing against each other. He has a stronger arm than Bolin and he is much quicker and elusive. Unfortunately, he is a little undersized at 5'10" but he is a solid 185 pounds. St. X will go as far as Mattingly carries them and if Glaser allows him to really expand the offensive play calling then you will see some good things out of the Tigers this year. X also has some excellent recievers in Matt Wempe, Jake Johson and several others and if Glaser lets them throw the ball this year then you will see some things you are definitely not used to seeing at X. X does still have multiple athletes on the team they are just not as big as some teams in the past. Should be an interesting year and X's schedule is as good as anyone's in the state including Trinity's.
