Matthew Perry was the one that was rumored to get it last time. Not sure if he will appy this time or not. Queston has been brought up if the Rison's are still part of the Montgomery Co system.

Coach Perry didn't leave a while back when his stock was way up. I cannot see him leaving now, with his son playing that long in West Liberty.

I agree. Also he lives in Crockett and would be a looooong drive. If he moved then his wife would need a job, she is also a teacher. Hard to get all this done with school starting in just a few weeks.

Everyone has quit and/or retired at Montgomery Co? This is where the Region is scheduled to be held. Maybe bring it back to Mason so the small school can share the money. Just a thought??

I'd rather take my chances with the new hires at Montgomery. Thanks anyway for the thought. Besides Montgomery may be the team to beat in the 10th this year and they should have the chance to do it at home just like the others ... or I mean the other.

In the Mount Sterling paper is it confirmed that Bart Rison has retired as AD and they are still looking for one. He is still up in the air as far as softball. If I can find a link I will post it. There is also an interview with coach Grieser in the paper as well.

Keith Griesser, one of the most respected young coaches in Kentucky high school basketball, decided to change directions this week, announcing he was leaving to become the Dean of Students at Royal Springs Middle School near his home in Scott County.

 

“I’ve tried to be very upfront with everyone that needed to know that I was looking for a job in the administrative ranks,” Griesser said. “Timing certainly isn’t what I would have hoped for, but I’ve done everything I could to prepare them for the possibility. This job just opened up a week ago so it’s been sort of a whirlwind in how it all came together.

 

As for the basketball team at MCHS, the outgoing coach said he felt a little like Moses.

“It’s sort of like leading them to the Promised Land but not getting a chance to go there with them,” Griesser said. “I trust that the administration will chose the next coach wisely. I believe this team will be playing in Rupp (in the state tournament) and I’ll be pulling for them as hard as anyone.”

“I love the guys I’ve coached almost like I love my own children,” Griesser said. “But at crunch time, Amy and those four are going to win every time. Hopefully this is a move that ends up to be the right one for me and for the program here at Montgomery County High School.”

Why does it seem that EVERY thread that does not involve Mason Co ends up in people complaining about how Mason Co doesn't get the regional every year anymore? START a thread about it, again! Would be nice if these threads could stay on topic.

I don't know but the regional is a showcase for the schools who do make it and are fighting for a chance to go to Rupp not simply a fundraiser for the smaller schools. It is nice that sometimes it is a financial boom for those schools but that is not a reason to jump at the coach and AD change at Montgomery as a chance to take it back to Mason. The new coach will inherit a nice team. Let him, Prewitt, Handshoe and the others have a chance to make this a magical season and to do it at home. I am certainly not a Montgomery supporter but it looks like it could be their time and I wish them the best in their search for the new coach. He will have good team but will be trying to fill the shoes of a very good coach. The chemistry could be interesting with the high expectations for this team.

I think Jay Bordas from Bourbon county would be a nice fit for this position.

Why? Has he even won 20 games in 3 years?
