July 14, 201115 yr Keeping those details in mind, I actually would be fine with slight increases. Although I would really only be in favor of them in the form of removing archaic loopholes that have existed since the early 1900s for certain industries. Of course a simplification of the tax code in general would be good in my opinion either way. I do think that the republicans need to be very careful in the negotiations. They are teetering on the precipice of losing public support and that could lead to disaster in 2012.

July 14, 201115 yr From your keyboard to God's ear. I hope to God it doesn't happen. Single party control of government is a disaster with no checks. I don't care which party it is. Divided government is the best course of action for the U.S. and in my mind has been the case for some time.
July 14, 201115 yr For those that do not want to read: Not true. Obama has to be up to something. Moma says Obama and girls are the devil.......... No way the Greatest GOP President ever raised taxes that much. Trickle Down was a a great move.......

July 14, 201115 yr Doesn't address the issue whatsoever....the issue is you can't spend more than you bring in period. The government giveaways have gone one direction...up. If instead of putting percentages, the dollar amount was stated, folks would be shocked. When 47% of Americans pay NO income tax-that may be a good place to start. Everybody should pay their fair share. (Yes businesses too.)

July 14, 201115 yr You mean like GE and Exxon was it, that paid no federal taxes? To quote a Democrat operative on Morning Joe when they tried to point out that 51% of the American public pay no federal income taxes, "They pay sales taxes and other taxes, so they do pay taxes."
July 14, 201115 yr Author To quote a Democrat operative on Morning Joe when they tried to point out that 51% of the American public pay no federal income taxes, "They pay sales taxes and other taxes, so they do pay taxes." Correct. Every person and organization pays taxes in one form or the other and some argue that these other taxes are more punitive to those on the bottom that do not pay federal income taxes.

It never ceases to amaze me how people confuse the various taxes and user fees disguised as taxes. Folks, they are not interchangeable.
