Ok guys what do you fellows that are close to the program think needs to be done to turn this around? Do you throw your arms up and say lets get this season over with or do you try to salvage whats left? Will the Raiders make the playoffs now? What needs to change for them to win a few games and finish strong?

Me too cause all the money I have inherited = $00.00. LoL! I also agree that positive thinking is the only way to go at the beginning of every season if you truely support the kids! Go Raiders and Go Get'em Guys!

It's simple, you never give up you continue to work towards your next opponent. You watch film create the best game plan you can and then design your practices based on the game plan then you go out Friday and execute that game plan! There is no such thing as throwing your hands in the air. Take one week and one game at a time and give it 100% and that's the way it's done!

I don't really know a lot as far as being on the inside with McCreary's program, but I've heard in the past coaches have fought hard to keep kids in the weight room in the spring and parents/administration don't back the coaches on this. Numbers would help dramatically long term. The more you can get out at an earlier age the better. McCreary always has the numbers of a 1a or small 2a school not the 3a or 4a school they've been.

Are you really lost HB? Or are you playing "dumb." Cut the games most people in McCreary now who you are. Your not a supporter though you act like it. Your two faced. McCreary has played football since 1986 and have had one winning season. What do you think needs to be done? They are who they have always been. Stop getting on here and embarrasing the kids and people of that community with your insincere questions on a state wide forum. Ask better questions like are the kids giving their best effort? are they trying etc. McCreary is a poor county with very little jobs. They don't always have the talent and numbers to match up with others but they give their best. Why don't you show some fruit of your faith and stop harrasing people with your negative comments.

Trenchmaster I think you would need to worry about Whitley County, that is your team right? I am talking to HOP and the others from McCreary about what ht721 was saying. If you have some good input then lets hear it. I am just trying to get to the bottom of why the Raiders are not winning after such huge preseason expectations.

JMO , the talent is there at MC to win, more support from the community,the powers that be,and they need the whole coaching staff on the same page, i am not trying to be negative at all just stating my opinion,but you cant practice an hour or less a day and be competitive at the high school level.Good luck guys I hope you have a better game next week.

They were 2 or 3 on here saying the raiders could win 7 or 8 games. Those numbers were only to pressure on smith and the players. Why does 2 or 3 on here worry so much about mccreary football. Smith has the support of the administration and parents. Beat Casey and all the other games are forgotten.

I observed McCreary football since its inception way back when. There have been times that they have been very close to getting to a point where they could compete on a yearly basis, but lack of support or politics caused coaching changes. It is tough to get a "program" on its feet without the support of the administration and parents. I honestly don't see that at McCreary Central. Look at the facilities, the weight room is good but the field and stands are less than average. You just don't see good teams have poor facilities. I can see how kids don't want to play and sacrifice for the school, when the school won't do the same for them. I have been to middle school fields that were way better. I think that going outside the system to get a coach might help...fresh ideas. You look around and who are you going to get to take a situation like that, well there are guys who are young and hungry for a chance and you might end up being a stepping stone, but as you make progress you can get better coaches. The feeder program is not too bad but they need to get more kids involved. Then you need to keep the kids you have, you have lost some great players (and who can blame them for leaving) to other programs such as Pulaski Co, SW, Williamsburg so if you just keep your kids you can compete.

 

Honestly it would take a complete overhaul from top to bottom to get things moving in the right direction but the politics would never allow it, remember "Raider" Rob Jones would never stand for the football team outshining the basketball team and McCreary has more history in basketball than in football. Those who will deny this either don't know what they are talking about or just don't want to be honest.

I am guessing that you are counting me as one of those 2 or 3 you are talking about? If so I can tell you that I have done nothing but support coach smith and his staff and until thus year I have coached football in McCreary Co since the late 80's and have busted my but to help build a solid football program and have never nor will I ever do anything to hurt the program. In fact I have a 7th grade son who plays and only want the program to be it's best for him. I hate when people speak about things they know nothing about. I have never said anything about who does or doesn't support anything all I know is I support the program and I especially support the kids and anything I have ever said was to let them know I have confidence in them and that they can get the job done!
