These are my predicitions for the district race. I think McCreary can win 4 games this year, but they must be consistant with the easy game and not have a let down early.

 

I don't agree with your predictions. I feel like McCreary can win 8 games, none of these will be easy. Jackson, Knott and Taylor Co. were 1-29 last year, N. Laurel was 1-9 last year, Pineville, Leslie, Casey and Wayne are all winnable games for the Raiders. This is why we play the games and why the Kids work so Hard. I'll say 6-4 or 7-3. McCreary plays a lot of road games this season. With Pineville, Knott, and North Laurel all on the road in back to back weeks a slip up one of those weeks would not surprise me. They should go 3-1 in their home games. However, they catch Wayne County in a rough week after back to back road games at Casey County and then at Corbin. Wayne and Casey will make or break their season, district games are all that really matter anyways. The goal is to get to the playoffs and then win some games in the playoffs, everything else is just for fun. That said though 6-4 or 7-3 are very possible if they stay focused and don't get hit with the injury bug.

I agree with you, IF???? McCreary can play inspired Football and not get caught flat in a couple games and if they can stay healthy this can be a good year.

No game is a guarantee for McCreary, but they should be competitive in Taylor Co, Pineville, Knott County, North Laurel, Leslie, Casey, Wayne, and Jackson County. They could easily be 4-6 or 3-7 as they could 6-4 or 7-3, but this time of year I prefer optimism for people . If you go in thinking you can't win, you won't. Good thing for them is they at least have a shot in 8 of the games, so the goal has to be win more of those 8 than you don't, and I feel they have a shot to do that.

I understand that the Watts led Raiders were pretty good, but this TEAM could be better. The biggest problem I see is the fact that you have to learn how to win and last year showed that they did not learn that lesson well enough. I can see them winning 7 or 8 games but then again I can see them winning 3 or 4....like you say that is why you play the games, looks like it is going to be an interesting season in SEKY.

Don't know about being better than the 2009 Team. Watts, Roark and crew were pretty Good. 7-4 Season with losses to Bell, Rock, Knox and an undefeated Lawrence County Team. Beat Edmonson Co. and Wayne County both pretty good teams in 2009. However I do agree this Team can be Special. They have some talented players and have worked harder this off-season. As stated early on, the Schedule is in favor of a good Year. Go Raiders!!!! Win as many as you Can.

In a District where the 3rd, 4th, and 5th place teams are so close one win does not put you in the Play-offs. It could go to a Tie Breaker System and every win would count. I hope we are 8-2 then there is no question about who is in.

Ill bet I could go to last years thread and the exact same thing would have been said. 3,4, and 5 are not as close as you think. If you win 8 games this year I will kiss Robert Jones on the cheek.....

I do think it would be a big boost for the program to get back to the playoffs but in my opinion Wayne Co and Casey Co are the in the top 5 teams on the Raiders schedule so just beating one of them and then losing to 5 teams that (in my opinion) are not as good would be far from a successful season. I too think there are 8 winnable games on the Raiders schedule but that in no way means the same as the Raiders will win 8 games. I am very close to the program and I can tell you that they have worked very hard this offseason and had a very good spring as well as a successful month of passing scrimmages. I also know they are a very talented group of young men and with all of this I can say without a shadow of a doubt that they have 8 winnable games on the schedule. Now that may not be everyones opinion and that's ok you are allowed your opinion so I hope you respect my right to my opinion. OK Raiders it's time to pack your lunch and go to work, get the job done and show everyone in the state what your made of. As always I am 100% behind you!

I see 8 as a winnable number, but I don't believe they will go week in and week out with one slip up, a lot of really good teams have weeks where they leave their A and even B game at home, for McCreary they can't winn all the winnable games without their A game week in and week out, I just believe once or twice they will slip up.
