July 3, 201115 yr Well, today me and my liberal immediate family will be joining the conservative extended family for a get together to celebrate. We're celebrating family, Independence Day and my brother's recent college graduation. I'll let you know if today's fireworks were purchased, or if they were a result of tempers flaring. Oh...and I'll also let you know if any of the younger set seem to be commies-in-training....most don't have the benefit of my tutelage, so they may still be able to be indoctrinated into the Republican party, as long as no one gives them any idea that they can think for themselves. Happy 4th of July weekend, All! Keep us posted.
July 3, 201115 yr B.S. !!!!!!!!!!! Everyone celebrates the 4th as Independence Day and our Country's Birthday not just Republicans .

July 3, 201115 yr Author Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the democrats believe every day is April 15. - Ronald Reagan
July 3, 201115 yr To answer your original question, RTS, I don't think that it sounds like indoctrination. I think it sounds like statistics and their analysis.
July 3, 201115 yr Author To answer your original question, RTS, I don't think that it sounds like indoctrination. I think it sounds like statistics and their analysis.I know, the "politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans" just sounded kind of funny to me.
July 3, 201115 yr I wonder if there are any holiday celebrations that socialize children into Democrats? Christmas (secular version). Children are taught that if they ask Santa Claus, he will bring them what they want. Once they realize there is no Santa, they turn to gov't.

July 4, 201115 yr I have no issue at all with the study. I have little doubt that functions providing activities such as flag-waving, beer-drinking and exploding things are recruiting hotbeds for young Republicans. My issue is with the Rush observation and the ditto-heads that blindly accept his oratory as gospel regardless of how ludicrous it is. To paraphrase a famous movie quote, "I am dumber for having listened to it."
July 4, 201115 yr ^ I would have bet a billion dollars that the President's name would come up in this thread...
July 4, 201115 yr The President's wife wasn't proud of her country until about 2 and a half years ago...
July 4, 201115 yr The President's wife wasn't proud of her country until about 2 and a half years ago...There are plenty of things in our nation's history that I am not proud of, too. It doesn't mean that I don't love my country.

July 4, 201115 yr Depends on the economic and political climate I would guess. I will say this though over the last four years of college I've heard more liberals attack the way of life in America than Conservatives. Its actually my main gripe with the hardcore Liberals, too much whining, too much of an agenda, too much of making something small into something huge. I'll say this though some of the Conservatives I know would celebrate this day, but not reflect on the meaning. Blind loyalty....unless a democrat is in office and then some turn to whining and pull out the agenda. I am of the mindset that hardheaded conservatives and/or liberals make our founding fathers turn over in their graves.
