I've only been there once and stayed in the Gatlinburg Cabins. It is exactly what you described, but the cabin slept like 16 or so. I'm sure they have other smaller places, but I enjoyed my stay there.

This was the view of Mt. Leconte from the deck of our chalet we stayed in back in early May.

 

 

It was really very reasonable for a 3 bedroom. We rented from chaletvillage.com. It was the most reasonably priced stay we've had in Gatlinburg. They have 1 to 12 bedroom chalets, we were extremely happy with them and will use them again.

Looks beautiful RTS. We have always rented from Mountain Laurel Chalets, which I would highly recommend. Check out both web sites. They will usually rate the view and have a picture of it as well. There are lots of great places to choose from. I love Gatlinburg.

You're right, there are a lot of places to choose from, most are competitive.

When are going to go to Gatlinburg, All In? There are certain events you want to avoid.

:lol:Where is your sense of excitement? .............................Walk out on the cabin patio with a good cup of cofffee, a plate of fresh bacon and sausage with maybe a biscut or two covered in honey. A gentle breeze carrying that aroma directly into the nose of a bear just off the patio. Ahhh, the solitude.

As for restaraunts, there are several good ones. I haven't been there in quite a while so there is probably new ones that I don't know about and others that I have forgotten. I really like the Old Mill restaraunt in Pigeon Forge, it is great but be repared for a long line/wait and/or go early. The Apple Barn is another good one. One must for breakfast for the Ramblers is the Log Cabin Restaraunt in Gsatlinburg. Their blsckberry pankaces are unbelievable as is all their beakfast choices. They also have a very good dinner menu. They are on the upper end of town.

We might be going down for a few days right before the week of July 4th. Drives not real bad from Louisville. We have a dead period and its our only time we can go. We have gone at least 10 times. And we saw a bear outside our hotel in the garbage bin as we got out of our car once. Mama went nuts, I yelled and it took off. I used my Nick Saban voice.

All three places are a must for us when we go. I also highly recommend Bennett's on River Road for ribs!

Avoid the Cabins Of The Smoky Mountains community. They're decently priced rentals, and they're well kept, but they offer very little as far as views go, and when I went there, we had a "crowd" of 5 there and had the cops called on us for being too loud on the deck...at 10:15 at night on a Saturday...and I can assure you we weren't making that much noise.
