Newport Central Catholic 3 Conner 2 9th Region Championship

Featured Replies

Breds came back from a 2-0 defecit to win the 9th..

Conner had a heck of a season, congrats to boys and Coach Arlo. NCC had a some big hits in that sixth.

Congrats to New Cath. What a year for the Breds.

Heard a key play in the game was a ball hit off of the Conner pitcher's foot in the 6th. Can anyone elaborate on this play?

NCC had the winning run on 2b with two outs, bottom of 6. Hard hit GB up the middle, I'm not sure the SS would have had a play, but he's breaking to his left, ball hits pitcher's foot, ricochets to where the SS had broke from, rolls slowly into LF, winning run scores.

Congrats to NC. Great postseason by Conner. Congrats to Coach Arlo and the Cougars. Best wishes to the Breds at State. What a great sports season on the hill.

Congrats to the Breds. Talked to a coach that will go unnamed but he told me at the Basketball Regional a few months back that he couldnt even lose with this Breds team and talent. Congrats Coach, LOL.

Who started this game for Connor? He sure looked awful young, but did a great job.

Yes that is true. It hit the pitchers foot and instead of going up the middel where the SS just might have had a play it went to where the SS was prior to the hit!

Congrats to both team and to Jeff and Arlo. Both Gentlemen did an outstanding job of coaching their teams.

The CovCath coaches did a very nice thing today by voting for Senior Jack Grosser to the all tourney Ninth Region team. Jack whoese Mother died yesterday of breast cancer, wasn't at the game to receive the honor but it was richly deserved!
