Bellevue. Newport was 7-15 on the season. Wins were: Dayton (2x), Bellevue (2x), Villa Madonna, Highlands, and St. Henry.

Sure would like to see them pull off a big upset tomorrow.

Would be one of the biggest upsets in 9th Region history. I'd say the chances are around 100-1. Just because I'm in a generous mood. :D

I have a feeling the Dixie will take it to Conner. Not hoping it happens, just a feeling. Conner doesn't really have a true "ace" and I don't think they have anyone that can shut down Dixie. And I just don't think they have the offense to carry them. A couple of decent hitters in the upper part of their lineup, but not a strong hitting team overall. .

:eyeonyou::lol::laugh:

It is one of the best days of the year for me and I will be as per usual watching all four games.

While there have been some good crowds over the years on Monday, I except that the Dixie vs. Conner 10am and the NCC vs. Beechwood game 3pm sandwiched between the Newport vs CovCath 12 noon game could bring in some large numbers of fans on what is suppose to be a beautiful but hot day.

I'm guessing you don't feel anyone wants to see the Boone/St. Henry game as you did not mention them, they are still in the tournment the last I heard. Some people will not be missed!!

Of note:

Was told that if "Dixie" wins on Monday vs. Conner their next game which would be vs. the winner of the CovCath vs. Newport game will be moved to the late game on Wednesday due to graduation!

If Conner wins, then the game vs. the CovCath vs. Newport winner will take place as scheduled, which is the 5pm game!

wow....

Maybe Conner doesn't have a pitcher that can "shut people down" or wow you with their velocity. Maybe Conner isn't the deepest offensive team in the region either, at times they can struggle to score runs. However, what Conner does have is a relaxed atmosphere to play in, an underdog's mentality, and a hard-nosed attitude.. They may not have the talent that Ryle or Boone or CovCath carry; but that doesn't mean a thing. Just ask Ryle and Dixie...

Cov Cath didn't get a bad deal either. Easy first round draw and then face the winner of two teams that are also not deep pitching-wise. I see a CCH-Boone finals matchup and, if so, would go with Boone because they are a better hitting team.

Man wouldn't that have been embarrassing today, if CovCath didn't hang on to win to beat that horrible Newport team you have talked about. You sure have went out of your way to put them down over the last week, and keep trying to basically say they are just a bad team with no chance in your post. I guess we all should not take CovCath that seriously for the rest of the tournament, since they could barely beat that bad team as you say from Newport who had no chance. It's not like they had guys in scoring position in 4 of the 7 innings, and just couldn't get the hit to get them in or anything. Or else CovCath would have been sitting at home the rest of the tournament.

Obviously that was a lot of sarcasm in my post just now, however this is just another case you should never judge a book by its cover. Yes we all know their record was not that good this year, however they did what they had to do to get in the region. Which is silly to dislike to, since all sports have divisions, and all sports have divisions not as strong as others. They did what they had to do to get in. And as I tried to tell you, they had started playing better by the end of the year, and was healthy with their best nine starters for the end of the year. They were one to two hits away from winning this game. Which I give CovCath credit because they did come up with the big hits when they needed in the 5th and 6th to get guys in. While Newport failed to do so, however it is fair to say that Newport surprised a lot of people today including CovCath. Which I believed I told you they would surprise people, never said they would win but did say they could surprise and I think its safe to say I was right! :)

Good luck to CovCath the rest of the way. I do think it will be them and NCC in the finals, but NCC winning it.

Did you see the Conner Dixie game today? Do you know anything about baseball? Maybe you should watch Conner play some more before you make statements that have no merit.

NCC vs. Beechwood alone should be worth the price of admission. I have a feeling the Dixie will take it to Conner. Not hoping it happens, just a feeling. A couple of decent hitters in the upper part of their lineup, but not a strong hitting team overall. The CCH/Newport and Boone/St. H games should be run rules.

Going by the score, I would say Coop was half right. Dixie scored their runs. The part he was wrong about was Dixie's pitchers holding the Conner hitters in check.

Hey he got one out of 3 of those right, which was the St. Henry game. So usually 1 out of 3 is not good, however this is a baseball thread and 1 out of 3 is an average of .333 so that is good in baseball haha.

 Sure. Anytime you want to compare baseball knowledge, let me know. I'm glad Conner won. Didn't think they would, but I was wrong and have no problem admitting I was. I didn't think they could score six runs on Sexton, so good for them. Ultimately, I've seen Conner enough that I'm not overwhelmed with their hitting. Not a bad hitting team at all and never said otherwise. Just don't think they have the type of hitting that can carry them. IMO, of course. Which pales to your vast sea of superior baseball knowledge.

So basically, I'm Hall-of-Fame worthy? :p
