An interesting scenario will come up if Dixie advances to Wed. 6/1

They have graduation at 5:30.

I think NCC can get to the finals with Cain and Sullivan/Schmitts. The NCC bats will get them there.

My prediction is NCC/CovCath final and NCC takes it.

They're going to have to get by BW and Bertke first.

I agree. I don't think NCC will get to Bertke. I'm guessing Beechwood 4 NCC 1. Also like Solomon said Dixie does have graduation on Wednesday at 5:30. But they Seniors at Dixie said that they will play in the semi's instead of graduation if it comes to that point.

IMO, NewCath's chances hinge on whether or not Cain is able to find the plate--if he does, BW will need to have a real good outing from their pitcher, as NewCath has a big-time potent offense and the defense is better than most. Assuming Bertke will go, it should make for a great game. If Cain has trouble finding the zone early, NewCath's chances will depend solely on whether or not Coach Schulkens can muster up the courage to pull his ace. And if you look back on most of NewCath's losses, with very few exceptions, you can point to a pitcher who has been left in the game far too long. If NewCath pitchers get in trouble, it will be interesting to see Schulkens will pull the trigger or stay the course and risk taking down the entire ship. Whoever wins this one will surely see Boone---and it's doubtful that either Laumann or Teegarden will be on the hill for game one. If Stanley is able to repeat his performance over NCC last Saturday, I'd say Boone is in the drivers seat, as they'll have two the top pitchers available for semi's / final game. Should NewCath beat BW, it will be either Sullivan or Schmits against Boone / St. Henry winner.

If NewCath gets to CovCath, it should make for good drama, as NewCath blew a late 6-2 lead to lose to the Colonels during week 1. So they've got an axe to grind--avenging a late inning meltdown. And realize that NewCath lost late-inning leads in two games during week one--and took losses in both games (Ryle and CovCath). NewCath had to watch Ryle, CovCath and BW atop the polls the entire season--they've got something to prove.

If I were an odds maker, NCC,Beechwood and Conner would have the longest odds to win it all of the 6 "contending" teams. But If NCC is going to get there, it will definitely be their bats that do it. The same is true of Beechwood.

The admission is good all day. I think you can get your hand stamped and return for a later game(s) if you're not into a baseball marathon.

It is one of the best days of the year for me and I will be as per usual watching all four games.

While there have been some good crowds over the years on Monday, I except that the Dixie vs. Conner 10am and the NCC vs. Beechwood game 3pm sandwiched between the Newport vs CovCath 12 noon game could bring in some large numbers of fans on what is suppose to be a beautiful but hot day.

Do they let you leave and return during the day?

I'd be surprised if Boone doesn't come out with one of their aces, try to get a decent lead (they will) and pull him after 2-3 innings. The way the format is set up, it would still allow this pitcher to be available on Wednesday if needed and then come back to start on Friday. No sense taking a risk that isn't really necessary. If Boone had only one ace, I'd say they may well try to get by with a lesser pitcher against someone like St. Henry, but with two very, very good pitchers, I just don't see them not putting one out on the hill to start.

NCC vs. Beechwood alone should be worth the price of admission. I have a feeling the Dixie will take it to Conner. Not hoping it happens, just a feeling. Conner doesn't really have a true "ace" and I don't think they have anyone that can shut down Dixie. And I just don't think they have the offense to carry them. A couple of decent hitters in the upper part of their lineup, but not a strong hitting team overall. The CCH/Newport and Boone/St. H games should be run rules.

Kudos to Newport. Who'd they beat to make the Regional?

Bellevue. Newport was 7-15 on the season. Wins were: Dayton (2x), Bellevue (2x), Villa Madonna, Highlands, and St. Henry.
