Derek Jeter getting #3000 in Cincy?

Featured Replies

When the Yankees play the Reds on June 20th it will be their 24th game from today, Derek Jeter hit count is now at 2,975, 25 hits away from the 3,000 hit milestone. Jeter nis now hitting much better after a terrible start.

So, 25 hits to 3.000, Yankess 24th game from now is at GABP. Just a thought, does anyone think that he may reach #3.000 at GABP?

That would be very cool if it did happen. I am going to the afternoon game in this series, looking forward to it.

That would be pretty cool if he did, as I will be going to those games.

Nope. He's no where near the hitter he used to be. That would be an average of a hit a game, and I just don't see him doing that. Shortly after the Cincy series IMO.

A hit a game is only 162 hits in a season. Whats that ? Bout a 280 hitter for the season? Jeter is older but he could do that.

He's averaging over a hit a game...after Sunday it was like 1.14 hits per game if the stat I saw on twitter was correct

Jeter may not be the hitter he used to be but that still puts him a better hitter than a whole lot of people. Jeter didn't get a hit last night but in the last 2 or 3 weeks I believe that he has had some multiple hit games. I don't know if he will get the hit in Cincy or not but imo it would not be impossible. Say he has a few 2,3 hit games in between now and when they come to GABP and you never know. Girardi is now using/rotating Jeter not playing everyday at ss, he will hit vs. leftys at dh at times instead of Posada. .That gives him a rest while stll getting his ab's

Like I said, Jeter may not get it then but he is certainly capable. Another thing is that if he is close it will draw even more to the game. I would say the Yankee series will draw more than usual anyway.

I didn't look past the Reds series to see if the Yanks go home after that one. They may want him to get it in Yankee Stadium if he is very close. They may want him to get the hit in Yankee sdtadium.

:thumb: Thanks, I knew that he was hitting now far better than at the first of the season. Jeter has had sevetral multi hit games.

At any rate, that would be good for the Reds, they need to put butts in the seats.

I didn't say it's impossible, just that I don't think he will. You asked a question, I answered.

D. Jeter with two more hits last night raised his hit total to 2,988, 12 shy of the 3,000 mark. The Yankees opened up a ten game homestand last night. 12 hits in 9 games is not impossible and I am sure that Jeter and the Yankees, fans want to see the milestone reached in Yankee Stadium. Jeter imo my get it at home (and actually imo that would be better) but probably more likely on the road. After this homestand the Yanks go on the road in intraleague play. Wrigley field for three games and then to GABP. The Yankees series with the Reds will be their 13th game from today so it could be that his 3,000 comes at GABP.

I wish that I could be at GABP for that series not only for the possibility of the hit but to see the Reds and Yankees play. My two favorite teams plus the possibility of watching a milestone mark reached , it just couldn't get any better. I envy the bgp'rs that will be there for that series.

At this point I'll be shocked if he doesn't get it in Yankee Stadium. Would like to see it at GABP, but it's a long shot at best IMO.

You answered him by saying you didn't think he could average a hit a game. The fact is that he is averaging slightly over a hit a game this season. Not solid reasoning

Hey--he's never been one to let the facts/statistics get in the way of a good argument.

Before it wouldn't happen because Jeter wouldn't average a hit a game, now it won't happen because he'll get too many hits before he gets there. UKMF, you should be a politician. :D
