June 13, 201115 yr Author D. Jeter got 2 more hits today, bringing him to 2,993 hits. The Yanks have only three games left on this homestand before going to Chicago and Wrigley Field. In a way I wish that he could get #3,000 at Yankee stadium and I feel certain that Jeter wants that. 7 hits in 3 games is not impossible but it looks like he may get the milestone on the road vs. the Cubs. The Yanks come into GABP after Chicago.
June 14, 201115 yr Author Derek Jeter singled in the first inning vs. Cleveland tonight to bring him within six of the milestone 3,000. Jeter went out later with a calf injury, has not been determined if he will miss any games. The Yankees have three games left on this homestand before going to Chicago and Cincinnati. http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110613&content_id=20434670&vkey=news_nyy&c_id=nyy
June 14, 201115 yr Hate to hear that, but the selfish side of me sure would love to have a nice photo of Jeter connecting for 3K, so I'll live if he misses the next 3-4 games.
June 14, 201115 yr Hated to see him get hurt. Hope he gets it soon so we can move on. These things can drag out. Bases loaded one out A-Rod pops up and Cano strikes out we lose 1-0. Sorry, just wanted to vent.

Schue, with you going to be at GABP for the Yanks/Reds series I can un understand that,. I would hope that he gets it in Yankee Stadium for Jeter. I also know that if Jeter can play then he will be out there. I had one idiot tell me that they were faking that so he would sit out untill the next Yankee homestand. That is so stupid of a statement the guy should never watch baseball again bc he is beyond help . I will say that if Jeter can't get the hit in Yankee Stadium then I would hope that he gets it at GABP. Anywhere but in front of Cubs fans. I love the tradition of Wrigley but can't stand the Cubs fans. Hated to see him get hurt. Hope he gets it soon so we can move on. These things can drag out. I har you AL, the Yanks did blow a great chance at a W, and with the BoSox playing like they are the pinstripes need to get every win they can. GO YANKEES ..........GO REDS --------------------------------------------------------------------------- btw, Before anyone may ask, my two favs in MLB are the NYY and Reds. When they play I am torn but have to root for the Reds in that case, loved them since I was very, very young and first started learning baseball. I will also add that I hope that if Jeter plays that he goes off, hits every time he is up.
June 14, 201115 yr I thought he had been on the DL several years ago, but I might be wrong. Either way, I echo Jim's sentiments.
June 14, 201115 yr Jeter to the DL. First time in his career. Sorry fellas. Not true. He was on there for awhile in 2003. I remember him dislocating his shoulder on a slide.
June 15, 201115 yr Author Yes, Jeter was on the DL in 2003. I was just listening to espn and they said that the Yankees had stated that he(Jeter) fought to not go on but that was just him, Jeter never wants to sit out. Anyway, they wanted to get him 100% to try and prevent recurring problems with the calf. Jeter is set to come back vs. the Brewers at Yankee stadium I believe.
June 15, 201115 yr That "slide" was when the catcher made a great play at third tagging out Jeter, but crashing into him was just wrong.
June 16, 201115 yr That "slide" was when the catcher made a great play at third tagging out Jeter, but crashing into him was just wrong. Jeter went in head first though didn't he? Not a good decision when the catcher was in full gear. But then Jeter has always went full out with little regard for body. I remember that head-first jump into the stands to catch a foul ball against the Red Sox in 2004.
