Rock Stars: Then and Now

Stevie Nicks and Joan Jett still look good.

Stevie Nicks gets my award for best preserved. Patti Smith needs a good razor...

Completely disagree on Nicks.

This is probably not going to sound right, but here goes anyway....

God love 'em all. Many of those rockers were some of the hardest partying rockers of all time. The fact that they've survived their self-inflicted hardships is a miracle in and of itself. And to be fair, most of them weren't ever conventionally "good looking" to begin with.

Many of the before photos are studio shots, and the others obviously aren't. Being one who's not photogenic, I can completely appreciate the difference. Not to mention, it's not like there's a 10 year time frame between the before and after photos. I sure don't look like I did in my early 20's.

All that said, Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen definitely get my vote as the best "aged".

Thanks for this thread. Pretty cool. All I could think through most of it is man I wonder how many drugs have been done between all of them? David Bowie then is one of the scariest humans ever!

I don't know...Johnny Rotten could give him a run for his money, IMO...before AND after.

To be honest, Johnny's before and after photos don't look all that different.

Iggy Pop looks more ripped today.

Exactly. As good or bad as some look they all look a lot better than Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin, Elvis, Keith Moon, Brian Jones, Jerry Garcia, John Bonham, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, etc. The rock n roll lifestyle is a double edged sword and one that can cut you down in your prime or make you old quick. Kudos for all of those who are still trucking no matter how they look. Guys like Jagger, Richards, Slash, Nikki Sixx, Johnny Rotten, etc. especially because they def have done their share.

Stevie Nicks looks better now than before.

The nose job probably helps. Most of her old one was pretty much eaten away (at least, the inside was).

On a related note, Fox News ran a big graphic today announcing the 67th birthday of Who legend Pete Townshend.

Of course, being the hip organization that they are, they had his name spelled wrong.:D

From Denis Leary:

"I was reading an interview with Keith Richards in a magazine and in the interview Keith Richards intimated that kids should not do drugs. Keith Richards! Says that kids should not do drugs! Keith, we can't do any more drugs because you already did them all, alright! There's none left! We have to wait 'till you die and smoke your ashes!"

Since you mentioned him...

Drugs to be sure (although some would say they don't partake). Age is a big factor here too.

Stevie Nicks still looks good. Nancy Wilson is not to shabby either.
