May 5, 201115 yr Before I say anything, let me make it clear that the adventure I'm about to set out upon is still, very much, in its infancy. This afternoon, I had a two-hour-long meeting with Fr. Gregory Bach, the vocations director for the Diocese of Covington. Fr. Bach will be discussing our meeting with the bishop -- although he has already heard a little about me -- which, I guess, is a good thing. My future is entirely in his hands. If he thinks it's right for me to proceed with this, I will begin a journey that will one day see me -- some 7-8 years from now -- become a priest! Yeah, I know...:eek: Like I said, this thing could get torpedoed at any moment, and in truth, the discernment period continues right up to the very day of ordination. You can back out at any time, and the seminaries even have counselors whose job it is to make sure you haven't changed your mind. This will be the grandest and most perilous adventure I have ever, or will ever, undertake. It scares me to pieces, on one hand; but on the other hand, rests my faith in God's grace and mercy. I know for a fact that I cannot possibly make this happen. But on the other hand.., I know He can. If given this opportunity, I will apply my best effort, accept every sacrifice and trust God to get me through. There are a lot of mountains to climb and issues to address, but today's meeting left me with a sense that the church was not going to dismiss me out of hand -- that they were genuinely interested in making this happen. The general consensus is that this very likely is something unprecedented in the history of the Catholic Church. Well, the Lord allowed me to blaze a trail of mainstreaming at Highlands. I pray that he lets me do the same on this much grander scale. But no matter what happens, it will be all His doing and all the credit will be His. I just get to have really awesome seats for the show! :-) If it doesn't work out -- and it might not, under the circumstances -- I'll accept, with gladness, whatever role God sees for me in the life of the Church. Thank you, my friends, for praying for me through my various trials in this life. We all must bear our own cross, but you guys make mine a little lighter. Friends stand with friends and friends are pleased when their friends are pleased.....I am so pleased for you and I couldn't be more proud. You are (alone with RTS) two of the best pals a gal could ever ask for and I am honored to call both of you my friends!!!! Haven't heard anything from the bishop's office yet. Going to start journaling through my blog. If anything exciting (or not so exciting) happens, I'll talk about it on the blog -- just makes it easier to keep everything organized.
