April 30, 201115 yr I am sure that Cobb wanted to go earlier in the draft, but what an opportunity for him with Green Bay. I believe that Cobb will have a long (7-10) years and productive NFL career and now have the possibility to win a couple of Super Bowls. Green Bay has always been one of my favorite teams, now they are my favorite!
April 30, 201115 yr I thought that Cobb would go earlier, maybe late 1st round. I also will say that I am very glad that he ended up with the Packers. I believe with his versatility that he could return kicks, play in the backfield as well as WR. Green Bay is loaded with recievers but the good thing for Cobb is that he can fill in other roles as well.
April 30, 201115 yr Best possible situation Cobb could have ended up in. After Jennings and Driver (who is older than Methusela) the other Packers WRs are inconsistent. He could easily move up into the top 3 or 4 this season. And playing with Aaron Rodgers is always a plus. Only the Patriots could have been as good a spot, but I'd still want the Packers if I'm Cobb.

Driver is old but he still knows how to get open and can still catch the football, imo will end up being reconized as one of the best ever. I know what you are saying though. Cobb, with a chance to learn under the likes of Driver and the others in that great recieving group that the Pack has will do nothing but help. Green Bay builds through the draft so imo Cobb is a big part of their future plans.
April 30, 201115 yr Glad he ended up on a winner. Better yet, glad he ended up on a winner that I don't despise.

Cobb could replace the inconsistent Jones & Nelson as the #3 guy, and eventually be Drivers' replacement. Love him going there, Aaron Rodgers will get more out of him than anyone I think.
April 30, 201115 yr I don't think Cobb is taking over for Nelson or Jones anytime soon.... If the Pack used their second rounder on him it looks like they are thinking otherwise. The NFL draft is a whole another animal in regards to other major sports drafts'. Teams are looking for every selection they make (especially rounds 1-4) to be able to come in and contribute right away, you don't see as much drafting for development as you do in some sports. Don't get me wrong you do, but for the most part if a teams drafting you in the first couple rounds they are looking for you to come in and play. Nelson had some flashes and Jones is a good red zone target but I look for Cobb to end up seeing more field than either of them.
April 30, 201115 yr ^ We'll agree to disagree then. Nelson and Jones absolutely will see more field than Cobb, and I don't even think there's a question...Nelson was ridiculous in the playoffs and Jones was in the top 5 in redzone targets last season. They're not going to change up their formula they won the superbowl with. That offense was a well oiled machine. No need to put Cobb at the #3 receiver already, that's insane. I think you're underestimating the Packer's receivers.

I think you're underestimating the Packer's receivers. I think you are overrating them, Nelson still had 3-4 huge drops in the Super Bowl. I think you are underestimating how good a QB like Rodgers can make guys look. I think Cobb will come in and be a 3-4 receiver next year and be a return guy as well. The following year I think he will be a solid three.

April 30, 201115 yr ^ No not at all, I acknowledged Jones was a great red zone threat, but as good as they were down the stretch neither are world beaters, playing with Rogers makes them look a lot better. Nelson had numerous drops in the playoffs, lucky for him he made enough big catches to make people forget about that. The way I see it, if it is between Jordy Nelson and Cobb for the 3 spot I don't see Cobb being behind him that long.
April 30, 201115 yr The following year....my point exactly. You said Nelson and Jones will be on the field more which would make Cobb the fifth receiver next year. Not close to what I said.
April 30, 201115 yr Again, you don't use a 2nd rounder on a guy who's not going to be anything more than your 5th receiver next year. Obviously they have other plans.
