I'm at the Sweet 16 all week, every year ... and I've never heard the "Kentucky Proud" campaign mentioned once, except for maybe an occasional commercial on the video board. Maybe Farmer needs to do a better promotional job instead of just being Richie Farmer.

Don't know anything about Farmer personally, but I do know you can't visit the hotel bar if you drive back and forth, or at least you shouldn't visit the hotel bar.

Like I said, I don't know the details on what he was doing and what his schedule was like and I doubt anyone else on here does either. If he lives close I would think he would drive back and forth, unless his schedule required him to be there late at night and back early morning.

Also, why donate it to charity? Why not just take the furlough? The point of the furloughs was to save the state money. Donating the money doesn't do that plus he gets to write it off.

I agree, just reporting what I heard. Also believe he should pay back the Sweet 16 bill the state is paying for.

Agreed 100%. Couldn't he write off charitable donation on taxes? So it's not like it's much of a furlough. Many of the higher ups in the state have paid their furlough money back into the general fund.

I did a little research and found out this info too.

 

Records obtained by The Courier-Journal last week through the Kentucky Open Records Act showed that Farmer was reimbursed for the hotel bill and $120 for meals between March 16-20. Farmer's Frankfort home is a 24-mile drive from the hotel, according to the Web site mapquest.

 

He also was reimbursed for $40 spent on valet parking, according to expense records obtained by the Lexington Herald-Leader.
