Congrats to our Cards. They played a great game. Robbie practically broke the game open himself in the first quarter and Bopper was great as usual. Great games by everyone else. The crowd and students were tremendous. Loved the cruise down the Bypass and the impromptu pep rally at the school. Now let's ready for Rupp.

We are proud of our Wildcats! What a post-season and so many great memories.

Seniors you will definitely be missed. Everyone was counting us out in the post-season.

They said we wouldn't beat Deming in the Districts nor Harrison. THe BGP experts even had you losing to Montgomery and by 20 plus to Mason.

But there we were playing in the finals. You will not be forgotten!

 

Clark County is as advertised and played a great game tonight. I hope they cut the nets down in Rupp! I will be there cheering them on at state.

I think the future looks bright for Pendleton with 4 of their top six players returning and a very strong and successful JV team coming back.

They have one heck of a point guard who had a whale of a tournament. A couple great shooters who just couldn't get it going tonight. They have some size coming back and some nice depth. Looking forward to next season when it comes.

Clark beats Pendleton County to win 10th Region title

MAYSVILLE – Robbie Stenzel nodded his head after draining a deep 3-pointer more than three steps behind the arc in the first quarter of 10^th Region finals Monday night at the Mason County Fieldhouse.

 

It was that kind of night for George Rogers Clark.

Stenzel couldn’t miss and scored 11 of Clark’s first 13 points and paved the way for the Cardinals’ first regional championship since 2007 with a 62-40 rout of Cinderella contender Pendleton County.

 

“This feels awesome, that’s all I can say,” Stenzel said. “Those are the only words that come to mind right now. We’ve been working for four years to get (back) here and we finally did it my senior year. It couldn’t be sweeter.”

 

Pendleton County, making its first appearance in the finals for the first time since winning the crown in 2005, turned a few heads following a stunning 60-56 upset over three-time defending regional champion Mason County in the semifinals Saturday night, but the “Comeback Cats” ran out of luck against the Cards and couldn’t recover from a disastrous start in the first quarter.

 

The Cardinals connected on six treys in the opening half and built a 32-10 lead before the Wildcats prevented a complete wipeout in the second quarter as the Cards reverted to cruisecontrol for the remainder of the game.

 

Clark coach Scott Humphrey said afterward that his team “was ready to explode.” The Cards did just that in the first half, especially in the first quarter, which featured a 27-point outburst by the regional favorite.

 

Now that Clark is back on top in the region, Stenzel said the Cards aren’t finished just yet and have another goal in mind.

“Now we’ve got to focus on winning at Rupp,” he said. “We want to win the whole thing.”

The Cards celebrate with their 10th Region championship trophy after beating Pendleton County 62-40 Monday at the Mason County Fieldhouse.

This was what I expected to see our of GRC. Keep playing this well and who know's what happens next week.

It's been a great year for the Cards and I am hoping it gets even better. The last two games it was great to see the intensity they played with. If they keep that spirit they could do well in the state. They showed more desire those two nights than I've ever seen they show. It was great to see them play in that frame of mind.

Congratulations to the players, coaches and especially the student section and also all the fans who have supported the Cards all season.
