Cards fans...could it be any sweeter winning the 10th region crown on Mason Co's floor? Regardless of the opponent?

I really think PC took a lot of pressure off GRC's back by taking out MC for them. I think they would have won no matter who they played. Mason was in their heads more than anything. Once MC was knocked out, the cards beat down Scott and PC with no pressure. Keep it up at Rupp.

So the championship that Mason won last year didn't mean anything when they didn't win state? I think winning this regional means a great deal to a lot of people across the 10th.

Last year Mason Co was the under dog, but no one thought they would win the state championship. Clark Co big goal is the State Title. Their fans are pumped but I think they have bigger goals. Good Luck to GRC. They will have a big crowd at Rupp.

I hope GRC will continue to focus on one game at a time because it only gets tougher. As all good fans to, I am sure several thought Mason would win it all after knocking off Clark in the finals. When they made the semi's last year, I thought they were going to win it all.

 

Congrats to the Cards on this big win. It certainly gives them a tremendous amount of momentum going into the first round of the Sweet 16.

I don't buy that point of view. It means something to me in winning on your home floor and moving on to the state. Mason Co fans shouldn't worry too much about this anyway. I know I didn't make any comments after you won last year because I really didn't care once we were beaten what happened, so why should you.

Clark County has played with confidence all year. They beat Mason at home already this year. They have played all takers backing down from no one. Mason, Pendleton,Scott etc.etc. Their was no fear of Mason or anyone in the tenth region. Just another case of Mason county ego showing itself! We as a community have won State Championships before and competed in many sports at the state level. Clark County is not the type place where one sport is "King". Trust me when I say this team would have been even more fired up had they played Mason county again! :irked:

I agree with you. I'm not going to say that the prospect of playing Mason County had GRC rattled, but knowing they wouldn't be playing them certainly loosened them up. The Cards came out Saturday night & just flat out punched an excellent Covington Scott team in the mouth. Scott was knocked down & never did get back up. Same thing happened last night with Pendleton County, who I believe was not as good as Scott, but the Wildcats were nonetheless a formidable opponent.

 

I took GRC from the beginning--both last year and this--because they were/are the most talented team in the 10th Region. The 10th will have its best representing us in the Sweet 16. But the talent I saw on paper translated to the floor when the Royals were knocked out. And believe me when I say I have zero rooting interest in the GRC/Mason rivalry. Just an unbiased opinion from an unbiased observer.

As stated weeks ago, the best team will prevail out of this tournament and that was GRC. GRC would have brought the same game (with the same results) no matter who they would have played.
