From looking at the stats, Mayfields QB has thrown for more yards than NCCs with only 1 less TD, but, he's got 13 ints to only 5 for Diehl...It appears that NCC has about 30 more completions, so, they may be more of a short, controlled passing game with the occasional bigplay, but, who knows...I agree, overall, the stats look very similar...Should be a great game...Can't wait...Go Cards!!!

 

You can throw all the stats out because both teams played several games that were blowouts and the starters were long gone.

 

For example in the NCC vs Ludlow game Diehl had six completions (in six attempts) in the first half, and five were for TDs. He was taken out with 6 minutes to go in the second quarter.

 

I'm sure Mayfield had similar games.

Yeah you are looking at it wrong...Shelton has had a good year and could put up more numbers...but with the three-headed monster at running backs we have not had to throw the ball that much...Mayfield staple...run the ball and once we suck you up to the line of scrimmage burn you deep with play action...we will see if that formula can work one more time in the '05 season.

Like all season, i just do not see anybody hanging with Canafax, corrected me if i'm wrong but i believe he is getting looks from Louisville.

 

Canafax is a great player...I have seen him on film and he is a great athlete as is the rest of the Thoroughbreds....but from what I have seen this will be the best defense that NCC has seen all year...and vice versa...this will be the best offense that Mayfield has seen...should be a nice one...and as far as anybody being able to hang with Canafax....we will see...I like our chances...especially with a particular defender with the initials J.H....and I will go out on a limb and state this WILL BE the hardest that he has been hit all year...and just seen the latest weather forecasts...the rain chances for Saturday are increasing...has NCC played any games in the rain...interesting to see how Diehl throws a wet ball...just wondering...good luck to both teams and may the best team win.

In the history of football I don't think it could have rained any harder than it did during the NCC/Bellevue regular season game. Of course, NCC did not use the shotgun formation at all that night and then 3 weeks later did not go under center once in the first 3 quarters.

I see what you're saying, but, i was looking at the bottom where it shows Diehl 125 of 198 for 1366 with 14 tds and 5 ints and then Sheltons were 91 of 169 for 1421 with 15 tds and 13 ints...Could be a misprint, because the team passing yards were quite a bit more from NCC...Do they have a backup who played in some of those blowouts that may have had those other yards???

I doubt that Mayfields Defense is much better if at all better than CCs..Don't get me wrong, they flat out hit ya and don't miss alot of tackles, but, I wouldn't expect the Cards to shutout NCC, like CC did, although, i don't think CC would shut them out either, at this point in the season...Matter of fact, i think they may have a good shot at em if they played again right now..

Fax is a great receiver and a very fine young man. CovCath is better defensively than Mayfield. Also, I doubt very much that Josh will take more shots than he took in the Ryle game. He took 4 wicked hits in that game. He is tough and will bounce back when nailed. NC played one game in the mud and rain in terrible conditions vs. Bellevue but turf certainly minimizes the effect of rainy games. I would think snow would be more likely than rain by the evening game. Big plays and bad plays will decide the winner. Both teams will hit hard and play inspired football.

Good points, but if you look at the votes above, Mayfield isn't favored at all. We are looking like the underdog and that is perfectly fine with us, and if our boys see those poll results they will get fired up for sure, :thumb:

Mayfield is 4-0 vs Nky in the finals. I'm hoping that New Cath breaks the streak since I'm finally rooting for them. The streak has to end sooner or later.

Diehl has over 2,000 yards passing. The QB from Mayfield looked like he had 1400. Can you give me a link to look at that.

Should be around 2300 yards passing with 32 TD's.
