It's not that Ayers can't roll out or scramble and then pass. It's that he was having to do it every single play. He was constantly harassed by the pass rush and his line could not protect him. They were just outsized and outmanned by the Tigers.

Congratulations Tigers! I thought the secondary looked very sharp tonight.They had them covered all night,had a couple of picks,breakups, hit hard and even caused a few coverage sacks.The punt return was overdue- way to go Alex.Backs ran hard and Tim was booming the kicks.I can't talk today from singing the fight song so many times but it sure feels good.Hard to imagine a better performance than the one tonight. This is going to be a wild week! Go Tigers take state!I also want to congratulate WC on a great season and for being good hosts. The field was in great shape and the lighting was great as well.Thanks for the extra stands for the many Tiger fans who made the trip.

You're not by yourself, Xtiger69, as both two of my sons and I all woke up this morning with "St. X. High, St. X. High, You're the best of schools around" raspy voices. We don't feel bad though, since this was as much fun as being with a G-R-R-E-A-T group of friends singing Christmas carols...GO TIGERS!! :thumb:

There was a gentlemen having real medical problems after the game in the parking lot last night. He was reportedly a St. X fan and I sure hope he is ok. Anyone know any news about this? I cannot get it off my mind.

Sadly, it is my understanding that this gentleman had a heart attack and passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Trinity always has a chance... they have somewhat flown under the radar and their trip to the finals has gotten, IMO, little publicity. They are definately a contender. This really is an embarrasing score for WCHS, this kind of blow out in the semi's is ridiculous... and even though they are playing St. X I thought the dragons would give them a run for their money like they did last year.

Very disappointing and embarassing defeat for the Dragons. It's not like X had been blowing teams out of the water prior to this game. X defeated Manual by 15 and JH by 1 while scoring just 33 and 21. How can a team come in that unprepared for a state semi final game?

IMO it wasn't mostly being prepared - it was line play. Some of the score may have been after WC got down a bit given the score.

 

The difference in the Manual / JH and Warren Central games was the line play. Manual (less) and JH (more) slowed down STX's running game and the D Line from attacking the QB. The Manual game was not as close as the final score indicates. The JH game had a very mobile QB that could scramble well and complete passes on critical plays while avoiding the rush most of the time. The JH D against the run (one of the better stat wise in the state) closed quickly and made STX throw more than it likes to.

 

Warren Central could not stop the run at all and their O line gave up many pressures and several sacks, with a QB that was running all night long without much success throwing on the run. If you allow a STX team to run like WC did, they will score a lot and give the opposing Offense little time to respond.

Col in your case it is lack of many things that prevent you from beating the Xand T of the world.
