Mayfield 35 Bardstown 21

Wow! This is my first post in probably three years, and my question to my fellow cardinal fans is WHERE DID THIS TEAM COME FROM!!!??? I have just moved to the state of Arkansas (surrounded by razorbacks...yikes) but before I left, I got to see the Marshall Co. game. I've got to be honest, I didn't think there was any possible way that mayfield would be going back to Louisville this year. I am amazed. Anyway, now I have to depend on the internet to find out anything..so keep it coming guys. This cardinal/cat fan located deep in the heart of the Ozarks really appreciates it.

I knew you were gone. I asked snake why you didn't post anymore and he didn't know. You and The Guru had some great discussions that I read in the classic section of the site.

Thanks Sportsfan, those were the days

How big and how good is Mayfield on the offensive line?

If they can't throw it, they might struggle unless they dominate up front; NCC has good size and athleticism in their defensive front.

Mayfield's best passing game is off play-action. They also tend to throw to the backs some ... sometimes out of the backfield, sometimes when they're split out wide. Shelton, the QB, is a better runner than passer.

From what I hear of NewCath, it seems the Cardinals will have a tough time ramming the ball down their throats like they did to Bardstown.

You didnt think Mayfield would beat Bardstown either. Just keep picking against us.

Snakesnot, you need to lighten up and enjoy the ride. Your team is in the state championship game. Life is good.

From what you hear or what you've seen...Sounds to me like you just pick whoever can come up with the best comments and have no 1st hand knowledge whatsoever...I believe Bardstown felt the same way and have alot more reason to feel that way than NCC does, at least from a statistical point, and i know the next comment is they didnt play anyone, well, You were certainly high on Danville.. Frankfort, Holy Cross, Larue, Campbellsville, Glasgow are pretty decent teams and they only gave up 34 to the 6 combined...

The two games I've seen Mayfield play in this season were against Marshall County and Paducah Tilghman. Cards fans will be glad to hear that I won't be able to make the trip to Louisville this weekend. :D

Take it easy on Westsider guys, he is just calling it like he sees it and he is just as hopeful as the rest of us Cards fans for a Cardinal win Saturday. He has been at the last several Cards games and I bet $100 that he will be in Louisville Saturday. While I dont always agree with his views on the Cards I certainly do respect his attempts at telling it unbiased. I do think he may be suprised at our ability to throw the ball though. We might not do it until made too but we have done a respectable job of it the latter half of the year

Whew, sure glad firstregionking is busy Saturday !

Whatever. Think what you want ...

Putting words in my mouth, are we?

NewCath has played a tougher schedule than Bardstown did ... the 'Breds beat Ryle, a decent 4A team. They beat Newport, who lost in overtime to Russell, a 2A finalist. They also beat Beechwood and Lexington Christian and lost to Covington Catholic.

LaRue didn't make the playoffs. Glasgow had their worst team in years. I don't think Campbellsville was very good, either. Frankfort ... was OK.

Yeah, you're right ... brain cramp. NewCath never beats Beechwood.

On the other hand, Mayfield has ... twice. And it kills them.

From everything I see....NCC is favored in this game by a score....somewhere in the neighborhood of 24-17. Again, I think NCC will be tougher than Bardstown and their schedule has been tougher. However, I think our pass defense must play well and I agree with Westsider that we will have to go play action more often to Brown and McCuiston across the middle!

How is NCC special teams---ala kicking and punting?
