Just can never understand when your #3 team in the state, why in the world would you take jabs at the referees and make excuses as such when in the end you still win the game? Who really cares if Robbie only scored 3 points, that Daniels fouls out in the 3rd quarter, and who the taller team is......gee guys you still won the game whether its by 8 points or 30 points. In the grand scheme of things, the win is the most important thing and all that should matter, unbelievable!

I do want to give :thumb::thumb: to the Montgomery Co staff for an excellant ran tourney. GRC was the home team as they were the #1 seed. Last night against the Host school Montgomery Co, thier fans sat on the visitors side, as it should have been. Both benches were on thier side and thier cheering section was behind THEIR bench.

They had the ROTC outside directing traffic...in the rain before and after the game.

Great Tourney and class act by the Montgomery Co staff.

As much as I love your posts, do we have to reference last year's region tournament in almost every single game thread?

Cards were in control from the beginning. Good lesson to learn adjusting to the whistles. For once this year in postseason they won't see familiar faces and need to adjust if they plan on hanging any banner.

I believe the final foul count for the game was 18 to 19. Montgomery County shot 16 free throws and made 12. GRC shot 19 free throws but only made 9.

Thanks for the exact stats. Should pretty much quiet up all the everyone against the Cards mentality.

I agree with what you say, but I said the refs were bad both ways and they were. Clark got themselves in some trouble in the final quarter with turnovers and taking shots that didn't need to be taken. Kinda went shot and turnover happy for no reason. I agree, a win is a win and the margin makes no difference.

No excuses asked for here, Referees were terrible! GRC made a lot of dumb mistakes but were able to pull this one out. Just because someone comments on the officiating doesn't mean they are making excuses. Ask anyone from either side and I think you will get the same response,it was bad!

Keep in mind, a win is a win and that is all that is important. Congratulate the kids and move on, all the other talk is water under the bridge.

The officiating is part of the game. We get on here to talk about the game. The world isn't all cookies and cream. There are things we don't like about it and warm fuzzy comments are nice but not reality.

I can honestly say from what I saw last night and having some prior referee experience the Block/Charges were awful.......There were only 3 legit charges in my opinion and everything else should have been blocks.....I think the worst charge call was on the kid from Montgomery in the 2nd quarter when he glided to the side of Stenzels little brother....then Pervis takes a legit charge in the fourth and they call it a block....If I'm not mistaken the 10th Region is going to the 7th and the 12th for Regional tourn. next week.

If GRC had shot 75% from the free throw line that would have given them 5 more points and the final score would have been 72-59 for a 13 point win. Would anyone have mentioned refs with a margin like this? What would the game have been like if in the final quarter GRC had not come down the floor on 3 straight possessions on the fast break and literally throw the ball out of bounds, off their players foot, and directly to a Montgomery County player? There were lots of other issues that made this game close other than the referees. Did I agree with every call the refs made? NO and probably never will. But turnovers and bad decisions are what allowed Montgomery County to get back into the game after being down 57-39 at the end of three.

I do not see where anyone slighted Montgomery Counties effort or failed to admit GRC'S shortcomings in the final quarter. This game has always been a good one and both teams play to win.

That was as bad of a miss on the charge/block that you can get. I had the same angle as the ref. and was stunned by the call. I'm GRC, but there was almost no contact at all and Bopper slid to get the brush of contact. Of course as a GRC fan I appauld his effort and enjoyed the call but that is what fans do. A couple of plays later with slightly more contact and position the call went the other way.

I don't think most of the posters are trying to use the refs as an excuse the game was close. Montgomery played well and they are a nice team with a little size they would be a very good team. Most of the comments on the refs are saying the calls were equally bad both ways.

The refs just had a bad night and people are commenting on it because it is part of the game and it was a very noticeable part of this game. I for one am very happy with the win. That is all that matters now, win and advance.

I don't understand how everyone says the BBA is the best officials in the state, but complain about them. Also I have only been to Montgomery's current gym only once and I cannot remember, but I think it was general admission.

Yes I would have because I thought it was that bad. You are correct the reason the game was close was not the refs because they were mostly a wash since it was bad both ways. You are also correct GRC made the game close themselves with mistakes and Montgomery made the game close because they played well. Those are the reasons it was close and not the offciating. A Montgomery and GRC game is almost always close because it is a good rivalry between two teams they play very hard against each other.

Congrats to the Cards for winning the 40th district! Keep pushing forward!

I was sitting on Montgomery Counties side and there was not one person around me complaining about the refs. As i said in an earlier post, just about every trip there was someone trying to take a charge. There were easily double digit block/charges called. Very ugly game with alot of misques on passes and stupid fouls. There is a long way to go before state and more games for GRC/Montgomery to play. Good luck to both teams.
