George Rogers Clark 67 Montgomery County 59

I was sitting on Montgomery Counties side and there was not one person around me complaining about the refs. As i said in an earlier post, just about every trip there was someone trying to take a charge. There were easily double digit block/charges called. Very ugly game with alot of misques on passes and stupid fouls. There is a long way to go before state and more games for GRC/Montgomery to play. Good luck to both teams.

15 fouls GRC to 5 Montgomery in the first half what is to complain about!

Not sure where you were at but from the GRC side I could see a lot of Montgomery fans up screaming at the refs and not just in the student section.

Of course this stat is incorrect because the teams were both in the double bonus in the second half and the total fouls for the game was only 18/19 for each team.

Wasn't MC in the double bonus in the 1st half? If so, that makes the total foul numbers off. Part of the reason the fouls were closer is because MC was trying to foul at the end of the game to get the ball back.

But in the end - it is what it is. Exciting game (as always) between these two.

There is an error somewhere in the number of fouls being discussed on thi board and I'm not sure what is the total for the game. Because you are right about both teams being in the double bonus in the second but Montgomery also shot the double bonus in the first half. So that would be at least 20 for GRC.

I agree. What region is the 10th officials doing this year?

Goldie, after talking with some of the BBA guys they are going to the 7th and the 12th, since they represent both the 10th and 11th regions. Also only one of those officials will be calling a regional from that crew.

Some interesting stats that I can remember from the game;

GRC had a rebounding margin of 41 to 28 for the game

Halftime Daniels had 19 points

Halftime GRC was ahead in "second chance points" 7-0

Halftime GRC was ahead in "points off turnovers" 15-4

Yes I would have because I thought it was that bad. You are correct the reason the game was close was not the refs because they were mostly a wash since it was bad both ways. You are also correct GRC made the game close themselves with mistakes and Montgomery made the game close because they played well. Those are the reasons it was close and not the offciating. A Montgomery and GRC game is almost always close because it is a good rivalry between two teams they play very hard against each other.

Thank you. Its frustrating to see the same old lame excuses when a team doesnt always do what fans think they should do. Thats what I was trying to say earlier sometimes you have to give props to the other team for playing well. But it seems like with some teams its always the refs stunk or somebody had a sore ankle or we played a bad game, without respecting the other team.

Show me a post where a Clark County fan blamed the bad officials for anything!:irked:

It has been about to drive me up a wall because I started doubting myself on the foul totals. I was close. The final foul totals were GRC 20 Montgomery County 19. Fouls for MCHS were: Prewitt 1, Crisp 1, Handshoe 3, Fruth 3, Mullins 4, Asberry 4, Dotson 3 =19. For GRC they were: Daniels 5, B Stenzel 4, R Stenzel 4, Martin 2, Purvis 2, Zollo 2, Rogers 1 = 20

Many thanks for getting these numbers. It is what it is............

Either way - great game, great players, great facilities and great fans in this district final!

And this rivalry is not going away anytime soon. Even if the KHSAA splits them up, the rivalry will hopefully continue. I worked with the 8th grade at McNabb this past year and we split with Clark Middle, McNabb won in Winchester and Clark Middle won in Mt. Sterling. And then McNabb makes it to the final four in the conference before being beaten by Scott County and Clark Middle beats Scott County Middle to win the conference championship. It looks like there will be some great games in the future.

Sounds promising for the future and let's hope the rivalry continues if they are split. I enjoy going to The Arena it is a nice facility.

No excuses from me. If you check the prediction thread for this game I had it at Clark 70 and Montgomery 62. So it went about the way I expected. I would have loved a bigger margin but Montgomery is not usually going down easy in this matchup. I will hate to have to play them again this year if it so happens in the regional.
