Has Travis Montgomery came back yet?

 

Travis is done. He attempted a come back a couple weeks ago and the knee gave out on him again (even with the brace on). He is now preparing for surgery. I don't believe the surgery date/time has been scheduled yet. I don't know what Travis's plans are for college at this point.

 

Spider - Please, give up!!! I especially like your comment ..... 'Cooper won that game. Case closed'. Really, what time is their game next week at the BOK Center?

Can anyone verify the new twist to the story that the referee that called this foul on Langley (that decided the game) went to Boone County and called 10 fouls on Cooper and 0 Fouls Boone county in this game?

If so, absolutely scandalous.

You are incorrect in your conspiracy theory.

The angle doesn't get any better than that.

When I first watched this I assumed the foul was called on the Cooper player behind McQueary. However, in watching the replay it looks like he calls it on #5 who was moving with Downs. In discussing this with others and speculating as to what the official saw from his angle I guess it's possible he thought #5 pushed him with his lower body. You'll notice #5's hip jut out. Sounds reasonable.

 

I'll admit to being extremely biased, but come on. 5 got out of the way. His hip didn't touch him. He avoided contact on purpose. The ref blew the call.

 

I will agree with the earlier poster that said we have no idea what the outcome would have been if there wasn't a foul called, but there wasn't a foul. I feel confident saying Cooper would have rather seen the outcome if the "foul" wasn't called.

Re-read what I said. I didn't say that our speculation matched up to the video or that the call was correct. The hip didn't touch him but the official may have seen the hip being thrust forward followed by some contact and thought A led to B.

He could never have seen contact from a Cooper player. If we have officials assuming things and not calling what they see we need new officials. He blew it plain and simple and he had the best view in the gym. He anticipated contact or he lost his mind and because there was contact he blew the whistle. It was a brutally bad call. Most calls might not have clear visual evidence that they were that bad, but this one does.

 

I know what angle the officials were being graded from and the one grading didn't have a great angle on this play. He did have a good angle at some other "questionable" calls. I'd like to know his opinion after the game and after seeing this video. I know that being a ref is impossibly difficult, but this was a terrible call.

I haven't seen a call so blatantly bad since the refs blew the call in last years 11th Region tournament when they disallowed a basket at the buzzer that kept Franklin Co. beating Henry Clay. I'm referring to bad calls at the end of a game that effect the outcome.

Watching the video, I can definitely see how the angle the ref had was huge in that call. The way Downs moved as he shot and then went to the ground could easily cause a ref to think his body was hit as he went up. Also, there is no way anyone can say that Cooper wins if the foul isn't called. Boone had two big men in position for the rebound so who knows what happens if the whistle isn't blown. I could easily see McQueary getting a stick back with no whistle.

The ref that made the call was just outside the elbow of the three point line "point blank" in front of the play. He was right on top of it. He just flat out blew the call! From his angle, he could see Downs run right into McQueary. Refs should not call what they think they saw. They should make the call based on what they actually see. Better call the Sheriff, Cooper was robbed!

If you look closely at the video McQueary has his back to the basket. More likely, Bradley or Prescott gets the rebound.

I can't believe anyone would say the ref may have thought he saw something. If you don't see ca foul you can't blow the whistle. End of discussion.

 

I have no idea who would have got the rebound, but my guess is Bradley would have. No matter what I would have rather seen the outcome if there wasn't a foul called than for the game to end the wya it did.

The ref is Jim or Rob Lohr and he is simply not very good. To me this is a situation where the referee sees contact and assumed that it had to be a foul, more or less anticipating that there was going to be a foul.

Just an awful awful call.
