Did Cooper play above their heads or did Boone play bad? Many people predicted a Boone blowout.

TriStateInternetSportsRadio.com. We'll have the game re-broadcast up and going on the site later this afternoon along with the complete game video as well. What a great game to call. We said it during the postgame, that you look at this game and think 10 points BC wins.. This is why you play 32 minutes. Great night of basketball at Cooper!!

Cooper is so improved. It would not have surprised me at all to have seen them pull that out. They are very well coached. They play to their strengths and it works. The 33rd. just gets tougher from now on.

I give great credit to Coach Sullivan (and, of course, to the players for buying into his system) for making great strides with a new program each year. Very very tough loss in what was extremely close to being a major upset. Best wishes to Cooper seniors who helped to build a solid program in 3 years.

Pretty low scoring game for Boone. 46 points is their lowest scoring output of the season. Did Cooper 'slow it down' or did Boone run their half court sets to keep Cooper in it? I'm used to seeing Boone in the 60's and 70's.

Just curious....

I wonder if Boone came out flat considering they have previously beaten Cooper 3 times this year?

Sometimes it looks like Cooper is stalling but believe me that is not coach Sullvan's style at all. You can attribute a lot of this to the in-your-face defense that coach Sullivan demands from his kids. They make teams work very hard to get a good shot each and every time down the court. On offense he demands patience and you won't see them just chuck up a lot of wild shots. If they are open for the 3 he allows it but they are always looking to get the easy bucket. Trust me you will never see a team play harder than the Cooper kids do. They leave it on the court everytime they play. Congratulation Jags on an improving season record and know that your time will come.

Coaches don't let their teams lay down for Cooper. They know that Cooper will always be prepared and if they let their guard down they can be beaten by the Jags. Cooper is fast getting a reputation for playing hard and giving you their best shot.

Boone played a lot of zone in the first half and that slowed the game down. Cooper had a bunch of great looks early in the first quarter that they just couldn't get to drop.

It is amazing that they have come so far in such a short period of time. I know that they get a lot of kids from Boone County area but to be this competitive in 3 years is great. I would have never thought this game would have been this close but hats off to Cooper for giving BC a huge scare.

The more and more I hear and read about Coach Sullivan, the more and more I believe he may be one of the best coaches in the area. What a great quote this is from Sullivan. "We said, 'Tonight is going to prepare you for something harder than this. There are a lot harder things in life than losing a basketball game.'

You talk about the 'Big Picture' and having perspective. I've only seen Cooper play a couple times and regardless of the score or the calls from the refs, Coach Sullivan coaches every possession.... I'd let my kid play for this guy.

Congrats to Cooper Downs for coming through in the clutch last night!!!! Big free throws!!!! Great kid and great family.

Yes, I'm a fan of Cooper Downs. However, he should have never been to the free throw line in that game that call was just one of many that the refs gave to Boone County. Just for the record I never, never in my life have blamed the refs for a basketball game. This was a mistake. Boone county should have been able to win without the help of the black and white stripes. But, they didn't!

Seriously, These are teenage kids. It's human nature when you have beaten a team several times in a year and you think it will have the same outcome. You see college and pro teams come out flat and lose to a team they had beaten already. Sometimes a coach has nothing to do with it. I know cooper is improving but you may be giving them too much credit.

The ref's blew nothing. It was bad on both sides. Some people may just be a bit upset that After 3 years and ten or so meetings Cooper has won 0 times.
