February 16, 201115 yr I have done the Bourbon Trail and will give it a solid endorsement. Get a DD and head out one Saturday. It does help at some of the places to call ahead (Maker's Mark for sure). My favorite on the whole trail was probably Four Roses. Also, since you live in Louisville, you can head out on the Urban Bourbon Trail and sample some nice bourbon and bourbon cocktails. Best places on there for cocktails are probably Proof and The Brown. Not on the trail, but other purveyors of excellent bourbon cocktails are The Blind Pig and 732 Social. Both I'd put right up there with any of the establishments on the Urban Bourbon Trail. For pure sampling it's dang near impossible to beat Bourbons Bistro...you can even get a flight of bourbon for some in-depth research.
