February 8, 201115 yr There was some initial chatter of it last summer but it did not get a whole lot of play. I love what Bynum brings to the table, but does anyone really feel he is going to stay healthy through his career? If the Lakers think it is panic time, they have to pull the trigger. They need a star-type talent to be there once Kobe leaves.
February 8, 201115 yr The Nuggets have to say yes to this. Bynum is better than what they will get out of the Knicks and Melo isn't going to say yes to a trade that sends him anywhere else but the Lakers or NY. Imagine this starting 5: Fisher Black Mamba Melo Odom Gasol
February 8, 201115 yr Author ^ They said they don't want Odom or Artest, pretty much just Bynum with the Nuggets throwing in someone else to dump salary.
February 8, 201115 yr No way!!!! Please don't go Melo, go to a team that needs help. don't win a ring on someone Else's team.

February 8, 201115 yr Am I the only one that doesn't like this move? I think it's more of an NBA Live or 2K move. All the things said about how LBJ and DWade could not play together would go in here as well, only worse because neither Kobe or Melo is really much of a passer. Kobe has the ability to do it, but he's not going to differ to anyone. Gasol is a horrible center, and Odom is much better off the bench. I think Bynum was a huge part in why the Lakers won the last two titles. It's a great move on paper, but I wouldn't like their chances against the Celtics at all, and I really wouldn't be shocked to see San Antonio or Miami beat them. There is no reason for LA to panic right now, they were struggling some at this time last year and people were saying Kobe was done. Artest is a liability, but he always is. Kobe is their best player but the key for LA to me is the trio inside. JMO, but I will be the first on record to say that I don't think this is a great trade or even one LA should do.

Imagine this starting 5: Fisher Black Mamba Melo Odom Gasol I disagree that Bynum is better than doing the Knicks deal. The proposed 3 team deal with the T Wolves has the Lakers getting Wilson Chandler, Corey Brewer and a number 1. That is better than just getting Bynum- who has never proven that he can stay healthy. If I am the Nuggets, I do the Knicks deal or wait for something better.
February 8, 201115 yr I think think Kronke and the Nuggets are just using the Lakers to get other teams to step up their offers. After the Nets backed off of their big time deal, the Nuggets have been getting less and less value offered in return for dumping Melo. I think they are just flirting with the Lakers to make someone like the Knicks really come hard. Why would the Nuggets even want to ship him somewhere in the West? Especially when they want to use a Melo deal to help rebuild into a championship contender. Getting Andrew Bynum is not a lot of value in return IMO, even compared to getting a likely top 5 pick, Wilson Chandler, and Corey Brewer. I bet the Nuggs are really wishing they could have done the Nets deal now, I mean multiple 1st rounders (with next likely a high lottery), Devin Harris, and Derick Favors. My how their fortunes have changed.

That's why I said thats why I bet the Nuggets are wishing they "could have" done the deal. They would have definitely been huge winners if that would have went through.

Bynum is the only one of those guys mentioned that is even close to being a franchise player.
February 9, 201115 yr I wouldn't touch Bynum with a 10 ft pole. Dude gets hurt brushing his teeth. I feel ya. Players with as bad as injury history as Bynum typically don't get better over night then stay healthy for the rest of their career. See Yao Ming, Greg Oden, Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, etc. etc. as examples of that.......
