You know for months you are going to sing the national anthem before the super bowl and you can't get the words right are you kidding me that's unacceptable.

I will have to look that one up but I am sure it isn't flattering to Aguilera.

As I posted in other threads on this topic, I actually thought Aguilera sounded very good. She messed up a line but she sounded good.

I thought she sounded lousy. Plus, as others pointed out, the way she sung it just didn't fit.
Very bad is what she was, get someone who actually knows the words, a disgrace to the US.

And also, just sing, not scream the song the way it was meant to be sung. All that extra warbling is goofy!

Fingernails on a blackboard.

That's what I thought about the halftime show.

Come on. I'm not giving her a pass as others on here have. She knew about this for quite a while. She "mailed it in" with a crappy rendition. Wonder what she got paid?

I like it better when they sing it pretty straight with only slight variations to show off their voice - (like Whitney Houston's version)

Forgetting the words stinks, but I'm betting none of us have every sang in front of over 100,000 people live and millions on tv. I bet it is a little more pressure than the local kareoke.

I kept waiting for Pink, Lil Kim, and Maya to join in

The sad fact is that there were probably a lot of people that were not sure if SHE screwed up the words or THEY couldn't remember them correctly.

Good call.

The shame of it is she has a great voice so there was no need to sing it like she did.

I do like her voice. However, there were too many parts where had she not been singing and instead just humming I'm not sure if I would have been able to discern that it was the Anthem. I like riffs but wow she was way off on that one.

That was my point. She didn't need to do all that. It's not like she had to change it up to try and distract from the lack of her vocal ability.

For those that criticize her, it is only a small blemish. I would like to see some of you try what she does on a regular basis and lets see how many times you mess up...

Mrs. Aguilera, your daughter is very talented. She screwed up. It happens. Sadly for her it happened on the biggest stage. Plus, she's a professional and it's not like there was a defense set up to stop her from singing a song we've all known for the majority of our lives. She wasn't reciting the Preamble to the Constitution. Grade school stuff here.

With that said I'm sure she'll survive this.

P.S. See if you can get her to look a little better. She used to be a whole lot prettier.
