Christina Aguilera sounded like...

At the time though, that was my job, so it really was as if I were a professional. I received money for singing the National Anthem.

I also don't have a problem with people putting their own talent to work when singing their rendition of the National Anthem. Each person has a unique range, and some of those notes are hard to hit.

I don't have a problem with her putting her own touch on the song. If she did that and it sounded bad that's one thing. But to screw up an entire line is completely different and if people want to criticize her for it I see nothing wrong with that. People criticize professional athletes all the time when they screw up.

She is a pro, she wasn't nervous, only a few folks were watching, how dare her..

I'm not debating the merits of how good his version is. It's the best in my mind. But a lot of people in this thread are complaining about how much Xtina's version was changed from the "original" and Scribe commented that Gaye seems to have gotten a pass on this. BF also comments that Gaye's version wasn't "anywhere close to what she did to it." and as I've said, Gaye changed the song a lot more to be his own version than Xtina did.

P.S. You need to get some soul my friend. ;)

P.S.S. All of this is based on one listen of Xtina's version.

 Soul I got, I like Marvin Gaye, I just don't like his rendition of the National Anthem. I get what you're saying though and it's all really just each of our own perception.

One thing I'd like to point out is that I do think Christina Aguilera has a good voice and can sing, it's just that all those runs she did with the National Anthem sounded like two cats going at it. :eyeonyou:
