I could not imaging the stresses which would come along with being the President. They all endure stresses and tough decisions, each one effecting both positively and negatively the entire world. I have no idea why anyone would want to do it.

I think it's like the Ironman...they do it for the sweet POTUS tattoo.

This is highly overlooked. And as I've said MANY times in here, history will shine very favorably on GWB's presidency.

No president is perfect. There are highs and lows in every one of them and thus come with them good and bad decisions. We will see the accumlation of those decisions years from now and then be able to render a true and accurate judgement on GWB's presidency as a whole.

 

I liked GWB when he was in office and agreed with him on a number of decisions and policies but there were also times I wanted to chuck my shoe at him in disgust.

I don't necessarily agree with that, and besides, the most important thing is how he handled them. A lot of us have problems with how he did.

The recession, China becoming a MAJOR World Power and not caring what others think, resurgence of Russia's military mind set, unstable North Korea(which seems to have become more unstable as of late), and 2 wars. I guess you could throw Iran and Venezuala into the mix as well, they weren't exactly off the radar very much.

You are trying to stay on topic yet all of your posts have been about GW. You said something untruthful and I corrected you. That is all I did.

I do not consider that something he had no control over. That happened in the 7th year of his presidency so he has to own that one.

 

I don't disagree with your point, but I would say this. Regardless of whether he has to own it or not, doesn't change the fact that it would be extremely stressful. I would add Iraq and Afghanistan to his plate. Certainly he chose to pursue those wars, but that was probably a source a non-stop stress and worry from that point forward. He had a lot on his plate.

 

But, to me, every president seems to age exponentially while in office. Clinton looked much older as well. The job has to be filled with stress. Also, you're privy to intelligence from home and abroad that would probably cause any of us to worry if we knew what presidents knew. That's just a guess though.

One thing alot of people tend to forget about is the recession he was handed by Clinton. Although not as broad reaching as the current one it had a huge impact in certain regions of the country.
