September 26, 201115 yr I thought I'd bring this thread back "from the dead" because I finally saw Social Network this weekend. I really enjoyed the movie and the story (whether it was embellished or not). I don't blame Mark Zuckerburg at all for "stealing the idea", depending on how true some of the stuff is when dealing with Eduardo would irk me a little. It said that he said with him for an undisclosed amoutn, anyone know how much? I had no idea that Sean Parker (Napster guy) had anything to do with Facebook. I thought that Justin Timberlake did a great job with this movie. Actually I felt like all of the acting was pretty solid. As for other innacuracies, I doubt the President of the University was that big of a jerk to the two twins, considering they were world-class athletes for Harvard, as well as the connections their father had. But it did make for a funny scene.

September 26, 201115 yr The basic parts of the plot are true. Obviously they embellished and put some filler in to make an a more entertaining movie. He created Facebook. He got in trouble at Harvard. He stole the idea from other students. He cut out the co-founder/best friend. He got sued by 2 separate groups. Those are facts. Most of the rest was probably embellished. Still tells me everything I need to know about the guy. No doubt there are embellishments, due to it being a Hollywood production, but there are some obvious truths to it as well (settlements speak to that much). And I agree with your assessment of the guy. Loved the film, but came away with a largely negative view of Zuckerberg as a person. He's obviously a genius in his field, but lacks (or at least lacked) in the relational aspect of things. Not sure the name of the kid who played Zuckerberg, but he was also in Zombieland & I must say I'm a big fan of his work in those two films.
September 26, 201115 yr Article on how much of the movie was true. The book this guy wrote is a good read. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2010/09/30/the-facebook-and-zuckerberg-in-the-social-network-arent-real.html

September 26, 201115 yr All I know is that if my "best friend" screwed me out of a few billion, I'd punch him in the nose while he was sleeping.
September 26, 201115 yr Author Anyone seen the commericals on TV recently with the Winklevoss (sp?) twins? It was pretty funny.

Jesse Eisenberg is probably one of the best, unknown actors of his generation.
September 27, 201115 yr Jessie Eisenberg and Michael Cera are the same person. I'm convinced it's true and you aren't going to convince be otherwise.
